I came here for the Palestinian support ofc, but it turns out that's not the only perk of the place. The staff is all Palestinian, and so the owner and the food. I had a Kafta Meshwi, which came with 3 lamb skewers, for just £17. I think it's great value for money. And the quality was really good. It's not the typical London restaurant, bringing you food after 2 minutes. Here you have to wait, as they prepare everything from scratch, even the drinks or the sauces. Talking about drinks, I had a nice Jellab, which reminded me a bit of a rose lemonade. Definitely a great place to go if you're in Holborn and hungry. You'll make your stomach feel good, and so your heart.

Ordered catering for a work event - so generously portioned and good value for money. Beautifully presented and very friendly staff. Catered to all dietary preferences and Sayeda was flexible to my requests and last min changes. Would highly recommend!

TLDR - came at 5, ordered food at 5:45/6 food came at 7 with many missing items, missing drinks, warm/cold food. Cancelled a few items as everyone was overwhelmed. Overcharged us with a few drinks but also over made a wrap 3 times so just gave to us. Don’t go as a big group and on a Saturday.

Wanted to go here to support a Palestine restaurant so went as a group on 9 on a Saturday. We understand that it is busy and a group of 9 is pretty big so we were very understanding but I’m sorry we had a terrible experience.

We came around 5 (we booked in for 5) and got sat downstairs as we were a bigger group and it was almost like they forgot about us. We sat for almost an hour until we were able to order anything. No one came to check on us and we had to keep going upstairs to get their attention.

Finally near to 6 we got to order. Ordered the food and drinks. I had 2 friends that came later on and ordered upstairs, their food platter came before everyone else did. It took an hour to finally get everyone’s food but still there were missing items and missing drinks. Most of the food was warm/cold by the time it got to us. Some food we even ended up cancelling because we were already there for almost 3 hours we were just getting overstimulated. We were all so hungry so we just ate, we were also told someone would come down with the bill but no one did.

They did end up giving us randomly 2 chicken wraps because I think there was no communication between anyone. (They didn’t charge us for this).

We then just decided after 20 mins to go upstairs to pay. They tried to charge us for extra drinks we didn’t order as two of us ordered the platter for 2 and it came with drinks but they added it as a separate item.

I also don’t want to make it about anything but the service but there was a small family of 5 who got sat down and left within an hour and a half while we were still waiting for our food. There was also a bigger group of people who got sat down and within 10 minutes got theirs order taken and within 20/30 minute majority of their food came out. There was a clear distinction between them and us with languages…. Take that as you will.

I’m sorry but I really wanted to enjoy my experience here but it just ended up being an overstimulating, cold and stressful evening. It was meant to be for my birthday but I’m just extremely upset. Like I mentioned we all tried to be understanding, the food would have been good if it was hot or warm but it was warm closer to cold. They meat was kind of dry, the chips and rice was unseasoned. Hummus was amazing, salad was great and fresh but overall experience 2/5 sorry.

I came here for dinner, I had excellent Palestinian/Lebanese food, good and cheap! A special mention for the dessert, the knafeh! Delicious, I could have eaten 10 more! The staff is super welcoming and ready to exchange a few cheerful and welcoming words! Highly recommended!

We were looking for halal food on Christmas eve, luckily this place was still open & had seats. Alki & Mohamad were super friendly & helpful.  Food was delicious & huge in portion but my teenage sons had no problem gobbling it all down.

Delicious food with amazing flavours. Made a large order for our office lunch the morning of. It all arrived well packaged, perfectly on time and it was delicious! The regular size was also a great amount of food to feel full. Definitely a must try!

I had an amazing experience at Koshari St in the St. Martin branch, thanks to Munna! From the moment I arrived, Munna was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and professional. He made great recommendations, ensured everything was perfect with my order, and provided service with genuine warmth and a smile.

My friend and I were looking for a light dinner on our way towards Covent Garden and it was by chance that I saw their board say "Egyptian" I was curious what was on the menu. I didn't know what Kosher is but my friend who lives in KSA told me and we decided this would be perfect. We got lentil soup and their chicken bites. It was the most delicious food we had that day. The flavours were exceptional, tangy and brought warmth. Akil who served us was friendly and amazing interpersonal skills. We didn't realise the shop closing time and were just sat there chatting after eating. We noticed after he informed new customers it was closed. He was so polite. Thanks for this great places. Definitely coming back.

The dishes we tried were all hits - Shakshuka was flavorful and perfectly cooked, Egg Florentine was a delightful twist, Crème Brûlée French Toast was a sweet indulgence, and the pancake with ginger was a lovely surprise. The warm ambience and welcoming staff made the experience even better. A great spot for a cozy breakfast or brunch in London.  Prepare to queue.

A great breakfast spot in central London. We walked in and waited around 30 to 40 minutes, but it was worth it.

The food was really good. I had the falafel on brioche bread and my partner had the egg bagel. Both were delicious, but the real highlights were the lemonade and the coffee, absolutely perfect. We also shared a croissant, which was fine but nothing special.

Overall, the breakfast was great, the service was lovely, and the setting was magnificent.

Well, it’s been a while since I wrote a review — especially a bad one — but I feel I have to take the initiative and protect my fellow foodies.

After waiting 90 minutes in a line full of Gulf visitors (my people!), I should have taken the hint. Everyone was clearly working through the same TikTok “must-try” list. I don’t mind waiting — I once waited 120 minutes for gyoza in Kyoto and it was absolutely worth it.
This, however, was not.

The food was sub-par across the board.
•	The “special pancake” (they push it aggressively since it’s the only weekly flavor) is a failed imitation of the fluffy Japanese pancake. Instead of airy and cloud-like, it was dense, heavy, and borderline doughy.
•	The “melted cheese sandwich” arrived unmelted, soggy, and without the slightest hint of crispiness.
•	The halloumi and hash browns tasted like straight-from-the-freezer products.
•	The falafel… no comments.

Overall: Overhyped. Underwhelming. Not worth the wait. TikTok made it famous, not the quality.

I wouldn’t recommend setting high expectations for trendy London food spots. My experience at Apple Butter Cafe was underwhelming. The smell inside the restaurant was unpleasant and made the space feel a bit suffocating. The food was average and didn’t justify the hype or popularity. On the positive side, the staff were polite, professional, and welcoming. We visited early, so it wasn’t crowded, but the prices were relatively high compared to similar breakfast cafés in London.

Let me put it right off the bat, it lives up to the hype. A popular cafe went viral, with people lining up for hours for simple food among the many alternatives in the area. At the end of the day, the namesake pancake is a calorie-dense bomb, I assume we all refrained from it recently, yet having it for the sake of “I was there”. Cool, the system is functioning properly. I was there, but scheduled it for a Monday morning at least to skip the wait, and it worked well. I was directed to the table right away. I will put anything special for the food bec for me the social media frenzi has stolen the main role. Good job. One of the “done and dusted” experiences for me.

Really good food! There is a great selection of tapas and main courses, aswell as veg options like the aubergine tagine which was delicious. The servers are kind and its a really beautiful place to eat. It was a little loud with the music but overall absolutely amazing.

Lovely atmosphere outside. Rose and mint tea not as good as previous visits but Priyanka kindly replaced with a new pot. Great food as always. 4 stars as tea not great.

What a nice restaurant atmosphere and delicious food away from the crowded areas of london. We started with Baba`s Tikka & Hummus , Prawn Crocket and Sourdough Naan & Mahyawa. The main courses were Mousakka, Bahraini Chicken Machbous, and Qurma Sabzi with some spicy sauces on the side. I can tell you, I’ve eaten one of the best Arabic food in London. It is a very nice blend between spices and quality of ingredients. Well done Villa Mamas and I really appreciate the experience and the vibe. Not to forget the staff who were really so lovely and do love what they are doing. Great and wonderful service.

Villa Mamas in London is a wonderful taste of home in the middle of the city. The food is incredibly tasty and full of authentic flavor. Highlights include the chicken machboos, cauliflower, and tandoori chicken—each dish cooked to perfection.
Dessert is a must: the elba and sticky date pudding are absolute standouts. Special shout out to Adam for the world-class service, which made the experience even better. Highly recommended.

Absolutely loved my experience at Villa Mamas! The food was exceptional—creamy hummus, rich and flavourful qurma, a simple yet comforting pulao, and the standout mozat laham which was perfectly tender and full of depth. Even the cocktails were spot on and beautifully balanced.

What made the evening even more special was the staff—so attentive, warm, and genuinely caring. They really looked after us, making sure everything felt seamless and welcoming from start to finish.

The first time I tried Libyan food, the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was decent. However, the food was not fresh and tasted preheated. I don’t think I will visit this restaurant again. But if you’ve never tried Libyan food before, it might be worth giving it a chance.

A good lunchtime meal with excellent, professional service. I wasn’t overly adventurous with my choices but the dishes were pleasant. Particularly liked the gratuitous starter. The fresh orange juice was tasty. Lunch in total came to £24 which was very reasonable. Was quiet when I was there but the music was ambient which made for an atmosphere. Was very clean but had a whiff of shisha smell to the establishment as you might expect.

Going to this restaurant reminded me of my childhood. Ordered couscous Libyan (wedding style) with Coke. The lamb gravy was so flavourful that it made the cous cous even more tasty. The chick pea and vegetables in the lamb gravy blended in so well with the lamb which was cooked perfectly making it easy to eat from the bone. Ahmed (if I remember right) suggested this dish and made sure that the dish is accompanied with the crushed chilli to enhance the taste. The overall ambience was good, the dish was perfect and service was well appreciated. Highly recommend

I was looking forward to coming to this restaurant for so long and when I got here I was not disappointed.

Food tasted great!, perhaps some dishes were different to they would taste back home but still absolutely worth it and I would highly recommend visiting the restaurant and trying some authentic and delicious Libyan food.

We tried Sharba, which is a libyan classic, we also tried the Ossban which was delicious just wish it was a little more spicy. Then we tried Embakbka which is a must. Lastly we tried Cous Cous wedding style which was the cherry on top.

Finally we concluded our visit with some Libyan tea to help digest it all this deliciousness

Wow, what a find! The food was incredibly delicious and fresh. Some of the best falafel and hummus I have ever had. The hostess and my server were so nice and helpful, I wish I had gotten their names (I was there on a Monday night and dined at the window by myself). I also enjoyed a really tasty pomegranate lemonada and Syrian chai. This is a new go-to spot for me in London.

I went during the Christmas break with my cousin, I had wanted to go come here for a long time, the food was AMAZING, my favourite were the beef skewers and the pulled lamb, it was all very good.

I love that they have sharing plates and a great vegetarian selection also. The Hisbiacus tea is also very good and if you close your eyes and eat you might think you are in Damascus…

Best Syrian food in London, right near Oxford Circus on Carnaby Street!

My partner used to bring his colleagues here because it’s such a great central spot with amazing food. They have delicious lunch dishes that come with a few dips like hummus and baba ganoush, and you can choose chicken, lamb, or falafel.

I’ve been here many times with him, and the falafel is an absolute must. We order it every single time. The food is always fresh, tasty, and full of flavour.

A great place to either eat or grab on the go, very competitively priced. They have seating indoors to seat between 5-10 people but I wouldn’t recommend it as it’s too congested. Staff are also very friendly:).

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Rusto Restaurant in Slough! The food was delicious and authentically Lebanese — full of rich flavours and beautifully presented. What truly made our visit special, though, was the kindness and care shown by the person who prepared our meal. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, taking the time to explain the dishes and ensure we were happy. You could really feel the passion and love that went into the cooking.

First time visit to get lunch, purchased the Lunch Box for £4.99, Chicken 🐔 Shawarma with Rice 🍚, really enjoyed my meal and value for the money.

My favorite food takeaway is a fantastic spot that never fails to impress me. Despite their often busy hours, the staff always provides excellent service with a smile. They go out of their way to communicate clearly with me, ensuring that my order is accurate, which I truly appreciate as I am profoundly deaf.

My buddy and I tried this place when we stayed nearby in London. I have had Middle Eastern food many times, but Masgouf specialized in Iraqi-style preparations. I never had that, but I loved it.

We were welcomed like family and treated like tru guests. I always appreciate that. The hummus was expertly prepared, and lamb mains were just as good. I'll come back.

I find immense joy in savoring the vibrant flavors of Iraqi cuisine, especially when it comes to kebabs. The tender, succulent meat, perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection, combined with fragrant rice and an array of fresh herbs and vegetables, creates an unforgettable culinary experience that beautifully reflects the rich heritage and hospitality of Iraq.

We visited Masgouf for lunch, and it was great. We were the only ones in at that time, so we managed to get a good table by the doors. The staff are great and we got served very quickly. We went for a mix of starters: hoummos with meat, which was amazing, rich lentil soup, and a fresh beetroot salad with lemon juice. The mains were brilliant, I went for Kouzi with fall off the bone meat and soft puffy saffron rice. My better half went for Masgouf, which was a grilled seabass that tasted great. We also received a Mohalabiah on the house, which was sweet and fresh. Overall, a nice filling lunch for two for under £100, highly recommended!

Lovely food. We ordered a lot of different things but we enjoyed the lamb shoulder and zucchini fritters the most. The cardamom ice cream and the dark chocolate tahini mousse were amazing as well. The chicken and the rabbit were nicely cooked but not very well seasoned, all the flavour came from the lentils/beans. Nice dips with warm pita as well! The food came quickly and the service was very polite. I definitely recommend!

Outstanding eastern Mediterranean food at Ceru with exciting flavours. The lamb shoulder and mushrooms were stand out and everything except the bread was gluten free (and there's an amazing gluten-free pita) which is perfect for coeliacs like me. Will be returning!

We can recommend the lamb shoulder, the battered squid, the spiced chicken breast on lentils, the artichoke & pea salad, the butternut squash and also all dips and the warm pita bread. The rabbit leg on white beans was slightly dry. The rice has a note of cinnamon and is tasty too. The housemade pale ale beer and pilsner beer are good. The atmosphere is pleasantly stylish. The service is friendly and gives many recommendations what could be ordered. When we arrived at 4:30pm, only a few tables were taken. When we left around 6:15pm, the place was full.

Great spot for dinner. Muhammara was the best I've had, as was the Kibbeh. Also really enjoyed the Lamb Kofte and Pistachio Chicken. The Kunefe for dessert was also massive and v sweet, exactly to my liking! Attentive service throughout and would certainly come back. Also seems like a good location for large group bookings as we saw a couple of larger groups while we were there and it was a good setup.

One of the best Lebanese restaurants I have tried in London. The taste of meals are authentic which is rare in restaurants in London cliam to be Lebanese. We tried their special set which included four different itmes for starter, main course and dessert. I should say that they had used high quality ingredient in all of them. saying these all, it worth mentioning that It is a bit over price though.

The staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating. We arrived a few minutes past their last order time, but I explained how much we were craving kunefe and had heard wonderful things about theirs. The front staff kindly spoke to the kitchen on our behalf and welcomed us to be seated. We truly appreciated their hospitality. And as expected, the kunefe was absolutely delicious—just as we had heard from others. A wonderful experience from start to finish!

Dashed in to have a quick dinner. Service was superb and attentive, Sophie understood the rush, ensured we had the food and paid quickly.

Best chicken I’ve had in years and the lamb was perfect. Will come back very soon and less rushed. Great place.

Food was flavourful, tried Mandi, Haneth and Kabsa with baby chicken, well cooked, and generous portions, balanced tastes.
Service was quick and done well. Menu was broad and covered most Yemni dishes, missing out on Zurbian. The soup was nice yet in a group of 5 some had much more actual spices than others, we felt inconsistenty in that. Generally proper authentic Yemeni vibes, the seats are a combination of chairs and Yemeni seats mixing bother traditios and modernity. The bill was as expected no added hidden costs, very transparent. Toilets clean and well maintained. Staff very polite, and makes you feel welcom. For a calm cozy Yemni vibes and authentic flavours recommended.

Some reflections for the management. As a Yemni restaurant some dishes are new to the Western customers even some Arabs, would be great if the menu is somehow digital, would suggest keeping the paper menu additionally adding a QR code which includes images of the meals. Customers who are new to the culture have it difficult to see what they will get even with thorough explanation by the staff. I don't see this in Yemeni restaurant so you can stand out.
Additionally with Google reviews becoming more important now I would suggest keeping the review QR code on the table with a single request for a review, so it becomes more genuine by the customers.
Would be great to have the something in addition to the soup for starters, something small like a bread and a dip, expected from Arabic restaurants.

Amazing experience at Queen of Sheba Yemeni Restaurant. The owner personally served us and even gave us complimentary soup, which was a really nice touch and showed genuine hospitality.

The service was outstanding from start to finish. The madfoon and lamb dish were absolutely delicious—full of flavour and cooked perfectly. The mint tea was also excellent and finished the meal off perfectly.

Highly recommend this place for authentic Yemeni food and top-class service.

Treated like family! What an unforgettable experience! I visited Queen of Sheba with my mom and sister, and the hospitality was just incredible. From the moment we walked in out of the cold, we were welcomed warmly and immediately offered a lovely, complimentary lamb soup to warm us up.The food was absolutely delicious, and the portions were so generous. We left completely stuffed and happy! At the end of the meal, they even served us a fantastic tea on the house. The service was also impeccable; our waiter was an incredible human being who made us feel like family. He even refused to accept a tip, which speaks volumes about the genuine kindness of this place. We will always look back on this dinner fondly. I am honestly looking forward to coming back to London just to visit them again! ❤️

Food: The starters were excellent as the dishes were full of flavour and had a nice range of depth to them and we were able to get a number of different flavour profiles in all of them. However, when it came to the main that was more of a mixed bag. Due to it all being combined and cooked together, the range of cooking time unfortunately affected the dishes and the meat themselves but the flavour felt a bit one note as well sadly.

Service: Ali was our host on the day we went and he was nice and enthusiastic being able to show good hosting energy throughout the meal. Sadly, the rest of the team messed up some of the orders that we had for drinks or food  for one reason or another.

Atmosphere: It was a decent atmosphere in the restaurant, a bit quiet but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves on the day!

There were great parts to this meal, but there were also unfortunately disappointing parts, if they are able to iron our some inconsistencies they'll do well!

You absolutely have to put this on the top of your list for Yemeni food. The service was brilliant and so lovely, they offered complimentary soup to start and tea to finish, which were so delicious. The interior is all made to look like a traditional Yemeni space and best of all, the food was absolutely perfect. The falafel, vine leaves, and main rice dishes were delicious and hit the spot. Portion sizes were huge and really good value for money. Super welcoming space and absolutely authentic. We will be back for sure

The venue itself was great looking, very spacious but down lots of stairs. Some chairs are quite low and not log of legroom under some tables. Delicious smells. Service was good. Our group had pre ordered so when we were ready food started coming out. Everything I ate was delicious and I tasted other dishes. All lovely. Cons - I found the food expensive, 12% service charge added and only 2 very small ladies cubicles. However I would go again  to try some other dishes. Great entertainment with bellydancers who invited diners to dance with them. Had a great evening overall. I have posted a few pics of food selection but we had lots more.

The decor is beautiful! I think the menu is a bit limited and it seems a bit pricey, but nonetheless, the food was very tasty + filling. Very friendly staff. It's very nice to walk into, the back street would never allow you to assume something so beautiful is hidden inside. Literally like a cave of wonders!

Amazing restaurant with great decorations. The food has been spectacular, we have eaten many dishes of Arabic, Lebanese and Moroccan influences, with intense and very tasty textures and flavors. Incredible atmosphere, beautiful dancers and huge portions of excellently prepared food. The starters were more than enough food but the main was so tasty we couldn't resist. Not cheap but very reasonable for the experience.

We had nut and sesame allergies on our table which the staff took very seriously, clearly letting us know which meals were for who. A really impressive service and beautiful attention to detail. Will definitely visit again.

An extraordinary experience - the food and the atmosphere were incredible.

I came with my fiancée to celebrate her birthday and everything was exceptional. We ordered the Akub pickles, Grilled Nabulsi Cheese, Sandweeshat Akub, Qalayet Bandora, Arabic Coffee French Toast and then were given a complimentary birthday dessert - not sure what it was called but it was spongey, covered in pistachios and drowning in a cardamom and fenugreek soak.

Two for two with my restaurant guide book and I may have been converted to a brunch person. Got very lucky with a walk-in table, also, apologies, next time I go I will take better pictures of the interior. It is warm and elegant, with smart simplicity. Clean colors, beautiful pottery, dishes engraved with tiny flowers.

There wasn’t a thing on the menu that didn’t sound good but eventually we settled on a  spread of smaller savory plates to share. I’m picky about pickles and all about details and these I would absolutely call an essential order. And the focaccia. My god the focaccia. We also got the Arabic bread which, don’t, it was tough and dry and didn’t bring much to the table- so definitely skip that for this because THIS. Was one of the best breads of my life. and I love bread, so I’ve had a lot of it. It was plush and soft and spiced to perfection, great by itself but an excellent companion for the other things we got: zaatar labaneh (on the thicker side, might get hummus next time), the maftool and batikh salads (100000/10 no notes perfection. Watermelon and mint, I don’t know if we’ve managed to top that) and the grilled nabulsi cheese- I don’t know exactly what the black spice rub on top was but we mopped it off that plate. That with the bread and the watermelon, a perfect meal, I’d be damn happy to have it everyday. So brunch is a must, but I’m very excited to come back for dinner. They have a cheesecake that’s gonna be sorry it met me.

Tasty food, a helpful waiter and a lovely red to wash it down with. Highly recommend the baked cheese, prawns, coriander dip and the lamb neck. Prices were a bit steep, but overall a good experience. The benches could also use a few cushions for vertically challenged folks. :)

Wow. Just wow. I can’t recommend Akub highly enough! Everything on the menu looked delicious.

Thanks to suggestions from the very helpful staff, we chose the sea bass (finely sliced, cured in arak and beautifully spiced with sumac) and a selection of vegetable dishes. All were expertly prepared and presented. To finish, even though we were full, we had to try a dessert. Again, flawless! A cross between a chocolate mousse and ganache, with crushed biscuit and ice cream on the side.

This is a true local gem, tucked away on a little Notting Hill side street.

Lovely little spot with a wonderful selection of food. We opted for brunch (it’s sharing style here) I’d recommend getting one main dish (we all got an egg variant) and then a few things like the hummus and bread. The focaccia is delightful and the rest of the food is flavourful too. Would highly recommend a visit. Be mindful of booking in advance

The menu was very interesting, featuring a creative variety of options that made it hard to choose just one. In fact, as I browsed through it, I found myself wanting to try everything! I can't wait to go back and explore more of their delightful offerings. Highly recommend!

@ogosht is when you mix Middle Eastern flavours and American and I absolutely loved it.

Based in Acton, West London they have a fully halal menu on proper comfort food which left me craving for more since.

For starters we tried the sujuk with humous. The sujuk was slightly on the tough side though wasn't lacking in flavour and had the spice. Lamb humous was on point though and I'd say slightly better.

Mains:

Big O Burger: A surprisingly good smash burger. If you have high standards this won't disappoint. I was pretty impressed with this.

Maca Cheeze with Burger Patty: An absolute banger! As a base they have their mac and cheese but when topped with the same double smash patty from the burger, this was wonderful. What made it even better was the Harissa on top. This was wholesome and absolutely delicious. It wouldn't be so if the mac n Cheese was average with a standard patty. What was beautiful was the texture of the creamy mac n Cheese with the smashed patty.

Sloppy Steak: Sliced Ribeye on top of fries. Normally this could be a little dry but their cheese sauce isn't a joke. Once the Ribeye finished I found myself just enjoying the fries with the cheese sauce alone. Nevertheless the steak was pretty good quality - I'd like it a little closer to medium rare though but again another great dish.

Wings: These did let me down in all honesty. While the Harrisa and bbq flavours were okay the wings themselves weren't battered plus found them to be a little dry inside so I didn't enjoy this as much as the others. I'd pass on the wings and get those starters to share.

They also do a proper Pina Colada - and get this, only £4.95! Rarely do I see this drink properly done but here I was left wanting another one!

I'd say the smash burger and Maca cheese with burger patty are a must try. Delicious and very hearty!

Great service, reasonably priced and delicious food. Only negatives were the smash burger patty was on the dry side and the burger itself was not something I would probably order again. However, the wings, cubed potatoes, steak and Mac & cheese were really good.

We were a party of 3 ladies. 2 who had become grandmothers and the other one was the babies great aunt (36, 51, 52) so we were out celebrating.
It was perfect.
We had the salmon, steak sandwich and steak, all served with the crispiest fries.
The steak was cooked to perfection.
We had a pitcher of Sangria and that was equally superb.
The place from outside looks so inviting.

We had a lovely Monday dinner.
We started with a shared Moutabal, which was wonderfully fresh and flavourful, and as main courses Lamb Kebab and King Prawns. The food was outstanding; the meat was very juicy, and the prawns were excellent too.
The service was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring we had everything we needed. While the restaurant was quiet, being a Monday evening, it was a very relaxing atmosphere accompanied by lovely music. A highly recommended spot for fresh, authentic Middle Eastern cuisine.

I have never been more de-influenced in all my life!! What really upset me is that I was looking forward to eating here for months after seeing the dancing and atmosphere on Insta and tik tok.
From the start we walked the staff a guy and girl just did not care to serve us. Dirty plates had to get them changed missed cutlery had to request. I had to get up several times to request for somebody to provide something or take our order even get the menu. They did not care. My potato dish didn’t arrive despite me getting up asking for an update as the other food was there and I’ve nearly finished my dish. The guy said it’s coming in 1 min. I could tell he was blatantly lying. I made sure they did not charge me and then that prompted the manager to come to our table to apologise. I explained how terrible the service he just listened but no real response on the matter. Literally heartbroken as you really want to support a restaurant with a strong message. Food was great but service and the whole experience ruined it for me. PLEASE DO BETTER!! We want to support you but YOU do not know now how to treat your customers. Moral of the story don’t trust social media 🤣🤣. Very sad I had to leave this review.

Its been a while since I went but though to review this place as the food was great.
- the maftoul was fresh in my eyes: first time having pumpkin served with chicken! The flavours are subtle. Quite tasty, though lacking in salt for my taste!
- taybeh beer: if you like your beer, you’ll love this
- msakhan wrap: an interesting way to serve msakhan. This was quite tasty, with strong foavours. I didn’t mind the modern take on it, though purists would not.
- excellent lentil soup

Literally some of the best food I’ve ever had. I think about this meal weekly (I visited Feb 2024). Everything tastes amazing and fresh. Service can be slow but don’t let this deter you. Very reasonably priced as well.

Food here was really delicious, we had the Chicken Mussakhan, the Palestinian Moussaka, Gaza Salad, and Sujuk. Lovely bread too!
We also enjoyed the lemon and mint juice and beer.
Service was quick and the staff were friendly, even though it was quite busy.

Everything on our menu is Halal, however we also serve alcohol.

The decorative in the restaurant is nice. Food was served very slow even we were the only table for a Sat. lunch. We like the garlic aubergine starter but the Harira soup was a bit too salty.

For the main dishes, chicken Tagine with prune was too sweet; mixed grill came with very tough/dry meat, although the “gravy” sauce was nice, it’s not a memorable dish; and the grilled octopus wasn’t very good quality of seafood. In general, we were slightly disappointed…

We arrived very late, just as the restaurant was about to close, yet they still kindly agreed to welcome us, which was incredibly thoughtful. We were seated in a small, very typical room full of charm — it felt authentic and cozy. The staff were exceptionally kind and attentive, the service was excellent, and the food was truly delicious, with a strong sense of tradition in every dish. They even offered us tea at the end. If you’re visiting London, this place is an absolute must — charming, warm, and genuinely memorable.

I've lived around Ilford Lane for a while now, it's home to loads of halal restaurants but I've never managed to visit Watan, I've been to the one in Southall around 5 years ago and wasn't impressed. However, every time I go past the one in Ilford Lane there are queues going out the door.

The weather was nice yesterday and we just fed and changed the baby so I said let's go for a walk and check it out for lunch.

The menu has a lot of options (swipe 👉 for menu) but I decided to stay on the safe side and try a Afgan Mix grill for £32. I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much from here.. But I was pleasantly surprised!

The kebabs tatsed really good, the first bite of each different item was full of flavour and juicy, they have been marinated in well balanced spices, seasoned well and more importantly not overcooked, something that used to be typical in places like this. Finally, chefs are realising that cooking meat to medium makes it tender, soft and taste better overall. Also, they don't remove the fat off the lamb chops, which means you get that flavour hit from your first bite. Lamb chops, lamb tikka, chicken tikka, seekh kebab and reshami kebabs, every item was good

It's served on a gaint naan and comes with 2 types light and delicate rice. Portions are good, we had plenty of food left over for take away.

Overall, for a first time visit and quick lunch I was impressed and enjoyed the meal. Lunch time was good to visit as it wasn't busy, I see why its busy in the evening as there's not many tables, maybe 45 people max. Decor isn't fancy, modern and clean and the service is basic.

And yes, I know I should of tried the Chapli Kebab.

All food halal. No alcohol. No service charge added. I paid for my meal, not a invite.

I had an amazing experience at Watan! The food was bursting with authentic Pakistani flavors — rich, perfectly spiced, and beautifully presented. - chicken wings and chips, wings were tasty but too small. Instead of promising 10 wings and serving mini wings. Rather give 6 or 8 wings that are big.

- Chicken saag didn't have the taste. It was too bland. But considering the place I would say it's not bad to eat bland food.

- Lamb chops. This was the WORST dish I ordered it felt like the chops were just overnight marinated with lemon, pepper and a lil ginger garlic paste and just tandoor roasted. I asked the waiter to talk to the chef and ask him to improve it mentioning a few spices and a method of roast. He went back and informed maybe his shift leader and I see them 3 look at my table and having a discussion but not working on what I said.

The tables are very closely kept to one another, people passing by happen to stumble passing by. No space for waiters themselves to pass by.

The food was fresh, tasty, and full of flavour. A special mention to Sana for her excellent customer service — friendly, attentive, and made the visit even better. Highly recommend!

I visited Watan on a Tuesday evening around 8:30 PM, and as always, the experience was excellent. We ordered the large platter, chapli kebab, paneer curry, chicken karahi, and keema naan—and every single dish was bursting with flavor. The taste is consistently 10/10, and Watan rarely disappoints when it comes to the quality and seasoning of their food.

That said, when the place gets really packed, the food might not come out sizzling hot temperature-wise—but it's still warm and delicious. It's something to keep in mind, especially during peak hours when the kitchen is clearly under pressure.

The ambiance can also get hot and humid when it’s full, which may be uncomfortable for some. But honestly, the amazing food makes up for it.

Price-wise, it’s a bit on the higher side. I’ve noticed they’ve increased prices generously over the years, which is understandable to an extent, but it does push it into the “slightly expensive” category for what it is.

Overall, Watan delivers fantastic food, and if you can handle a busy atmosphere and a bit of heat, it’s absolutely worth a visit.

Afghan & Pakistani Restaurant Southall - Watan

The seekh kebabs are easily the highlight here. They are rich, smoky, and spiced with real balance and depth, probably the closest I have found to the flavours of Pakistan. The restaurant is Afghan, but the food feels like what Afghanis in Pakistan might make, familiar yet distinct, full of layered spice rather than just heat mild but tasty. If there is one criticism, it is that the seekh kebabs could be a bit longer. They taste great, but the portion size feels stingy. In Pakistan, kebabs tend to be more generous, so these come off a little mean in comparison.

The nihari was good, with tender meat and a creamy, well-spiced curry that had a nice depth of flavour. It was my first time trying nihari, so I cannot compare it, but it held its own. The biryani, on the other hand, was forgettable. I honestly cannot remember it, which says enough.

The salad is where things really go wrong. It is overcomplicated with a mild chutney-style dressing and unnecessary olives when all people want is something simple, cucumber, lettuce, onion, and tomato. I have asked for it plain multiple times, but they never listen. Even with plenty of staff around, they are slow and inattentive, and ignoring such requests gets frustrating.

The place itself has a good vibe and friendly people, but it needs sharper service and a bit more care in the details. The food has heart, especially the kebabs, but the experience would be far better if the kitchen and staff showed the same consistency.

The food was very good, with generous portions, and the restaurant was lively and busy. If you plan to dine here, it’s best to book a table in advance, otherwise be prepared for a waiting time. We waited around 20–25 minutes. The queue system could also be improved, as we noticed some guests arriving later were seated before us.

One suggestion for the management: Mash Allah, you have many customers daily, which is wonderful to see. However, it would be great to invest a little in maintaining clean washrooms. Having a dedicated person to clean them regularly would make a big difference, as the current condition was disappointing. Overall, a nice experience with excellent food, but room for improvement in facilities.

This restaurant used to be called TKC. Many celebrities visited it such as Imran Khan, Umar Sharif and all the cricketers food used to go from here. It's called Watan now as we knew one of the older gentleman who owned it (not very well but he used to recognise us).  He passed away a few years ago unfortunately hence new ownership.   The whole decor has changed now but we miss the old TKC. Search it on Google and you should be able to find the old photos. Some nostalgic value for us older folk when we arrive in places like this....
We had chicken and lamb karahi with lamb dum biryiani with Nans (including chilli). The salad was complimentary and was quite fresh. The food is outstanding and if you follow my reviews, I don't say that for many establishments. I'd say try it as that's the proof. I recommend Watan. Pay a visit.

We visited Watan as a large group of over 50 people and were very impressed with the experience. The team kindly provided us with the entire downstairs seating area, which made it comfortable and private for everyone. The staff were extremely friendly, attentive, and accommodating throughout our visit. The ambience was warm and welcoming, creating a great atmosphere for our gathering. The food was delicious, with excellent presentation that showed real attention to detail. Overall, a fantastic experience – highly recommended!

Watan restaurant in Southall - Been to it 3 times now . Food is amazing the mixed grill platter, the lamb curry , the naans 👌🏽but what I’ve noticed is when they are super busy like on a Saturday after 5pm their service is not as good. They initially cleaned the table before we sat down but the food and napkins under the table was not very welcoming.
It took them forever to take our order, then forever to get the order to us and when the mixed grill came without the chicken wings they said they would bring some and they never did!

The ambience of the restaurant very presentable but you can feel the greasiness on tables and the floor when walking…
The toilets are down some uneven stick stairs clean but could be better. For the volume of customers mainly families they could be cleaned regularly.

We had an incredible experience at this restaurant last night. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed. They were exceptionally friendly, attentive to every detail, and consistently checked in to make sure everything was perfect. The service was truly amazing .

The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious, and the overall experience was outstanding. A huge thank you to the wonderful team for making our visit so enjoyable.

We were looking for a good restaurant to spend the evening, and we can say we didn't leave disappointed. We were greeted by a sweetheart, Ramona, who was incredibly kind and attentive to us. We enjoyed ourselves, but above all, had fun in a great atmosphere, with only excellent servers, including one in particular, Bassel, who made the experience even more enjoyable! He was cheerful, helpful, and attentive to ensure everything went well for us. He's also a very good dancer. We highly recommend the experience; you'll have a great time while having a great time. I was very pleased to say that my booking was accommodated and catered for in order to help celebrate my Husband’s birthday. He was definitely in shock and pleased.  The flavour of everything seasoning was a match with the aroma and taste. We ordered from the set menu and the starters alone were so filling. Thanks to all the staff who made the night one to remember. We shall come back.

Platter for 2 cost £29.95 dine comes with 2 boneless chicken, 4 grill wings , chicken shawarma, chicken shish with fries & 2 can of drink. Presentation looks very good very decent portion. Taste & texture of chicken shish, shawarma, boneless chicken & grill wings perfectly blended with herbs & spice outstanding. All the grill item perfectly cooked complement well with fries. their chilli sauce was banging. They do excellent grill food best around this area. Staff are very friendly provided us excellent service.

Very bad food quality, everything tates very oily and bland. Ordered a shaktora donna only to find they didn’t put the actual shaktora but used mixed pickles instead. The donna looked more like 1 week old lamb curry, which was drenched in oil and very soggy. Their price is higher than other local shops. Waste of my money!!! Never going back there again.

I'm usually not a big fan of Chicken shawarma, but this place hits differently on this subject. I was genuinely pleasantly surprised by how good the chicken tasted - carefully cut, cooked at the correct temperature, and tasted tender and very succulent.

I also ordered the spicy rice, lamb shish and lamb kofte - to no surprise at all, these also tasted immaculate! I would highly recommend this place to local people and outsiders.

I was also greeted and served by a very polite and well-spoken gentleman who was very prompt with with my order and paid very close attention to exactly how I wanted to have my food prepared.

If you're looking for a nice spot for Lebanese food with fusion, this is the place to order from. Well done to Bilhana, they have aced the food here.

Food is tastes great, is good quality and good value. They are generous with portion and don’t shy away from the sauce. Brilliant food spot and will come regularly.

A fantastic local find in Woodberry Down! The American Diner breakfast platter is absolutely top-notch—fluffy pancakes with perfect eggs and crispy bacon. Their Reuben sandwich is also a standout, packed with flavour. Honest, high-quality brunch that leaves you completely satisfied. Will definitely be back!

We visited the Drury N4 in Manor House up north. There was a cassette tape placed on the table and at first we had no idea what it was for—turns out it was the QR code for the menu. Such a cute and creative touch!

The Wagyu burger was pretty standard overall, but the Benedict really surprised me in the best way.

The fried chicken came with a deep amber, super crispy coating and a hint of Maillard aroma. Underneath was a lightly toasted, buttery slice of brioche. Cutting into the two poached eggs released gorgeous runny yolk that mixed with the sriracha-infused hollandaise—tangy, rich, silky, and incredibly satisfying.

🥑 AVO GO-GO Smoothie
Their smoothies are great too. The creaminess of avocado pairs so well with the sweetness of mango, plus the freshness of spinach and broccoli. Coconut, ginger, and lime brighten everything up. Not overly sweet, just lightly tangy and refreshing—one sip and you instantly feel healthier.

Overall, a lovely experience. Would happily come back!

What a breakfast! Full 5 out of 5 stars. I had an amazing sweet French Toast with banana bread - by far the best French Toast I ever had. My friends got the Full English which looked great and was delicious according to them. Also great coffee in nice big cups.
Only tiny downside was the location itself, which was in a residential area which was nothing special (no nice view, no nature, no old town flair).
But we would definitely come again!

Lovely brunch spot! The portions are big and really well presented. I especially loved the hummus with sundried tomatoes and the soft-boiled eggs and so tasty. The bread was fresh and fluffy, perfect to go with everything. Smoothies are also a must-try (mine came with rose petals 🌹).

Cozy vibe with books and plants, a nice place to chill and enjoy a slow morning.

I ordered the American Dinner, absolutely delicious! The perfect balance of sweet and savory, I could eat it forever!!!
My friend went for the Mediterranean Tray, which was not only huge but also super tasty, definitely packed with that exotic vibe.
We had two smoothies (mango and strawberry), and both were amazing. Next time, I’m definitely trying their new matcha series 🍵
I couldn’t help noticing the pancakes and toast on the next table, they smelled incredible. I seriously want to try everything on the menu.

There are Halal options on the menu. Pork is served and cooked separately. Alcohol is also served.

We had a shakshuka brunch (what a brilliant combination of the best ingredients) and a Baklawa French Toast. One of the best dishes I’ve ever had.

A very lovely family-run café. All of the recipes are their own, and they regularly refine them. They offer many vegan meal options. The food and atmosphere are wonderful, and it’s close to Stoke Newington Overground station. Definitely give it a shot when you are in the area. I guarantee you’ll come back a second time!

Absolutely delicious 🤤 food and portion sizes. I also really enjoyed the green smoothie, topped with what I think are dried hibiscus leaves. The Morning Palestine comes with warm bread, with ample muhammara and hummus dips. The small pot of tahini butter and honey is also divine. Food came quickly.

My only caveat is that you are definitely rushed out at the end of your meal. It’s a BUSY place so definitely not meant for a lingering convo. The bill comes almost right after your plates are cleared.

I had the shakshuka at 215 Hackney and it was honestly one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten. I’d highly recommend adding halloumi as well.

Everyone at the place is incredibly friendly, attentive, and polite. I couldn’t decide what to order and they suggested the shakshuka — and I’m so glad they did. I’ll probably be coming back just for this dish.

If you’re visiting in winter and want something comforting, make sure to try the halwa hot chocolate. It’s sweet and smooth, but never overwhelming. Absolutely lovely ☺️

We had the Veggie feast and it was absolutely delicious. The homemade potato latkes were particularly nice. The service was fast and the ambience of the place was lovely, we were there around 10 am so was a little quiet but I can imagine this place gets very busy from lunchtime onwards. I would highly recommend 215 to anyone
