Terms of service.
Plain-English terms for using Halal Joints.
Who we are
Halal Joints is a halal city-guide service operated from the United Kingdom. By using the site or buying a guide you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the service.
Signing in
There are no passwords here. We sign you in with a one-time magic link or numeric code sent to your email address, so there's nothing to remember or leak. Keeping access to that inbox secure is your responsibility — anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.
Buying guides
Purchases aren't open yet. For now you can join the waitlist for the free sample or reserve a copy, and no payment is taken. When guides go on sale, Stripe will handle payments and the pricing and refund terms below take effect. We'll always publish any change here before it applies.
What you get
A single city guide is a one-off £4.99. You get the latest published edition of that city and it's yours to keep — a dated snapshot that doesn't refresh on its own. Resident membership is £49.99 a year: while your membership is active you receive fresh editions of every city as we re-verify them every 90 days, plus the full database and critic rotations. Resident renews annually; cancel anytime and your access runs to the end of the paid term.
Acceptable use
Guides and membership are for your personal, non-commercial use. Don't scrape, resell, redistribute, or reverse-engineer the data, and don't share your account or files. If you quote us, attribute it clearly to Halal Joints.
Ratings & content
Our halal ratings are editorial opinions, computed from the evidence available to us — certificates, dated statements from owners and kitchens, the menu itself, and in-person visits for top-rated joints. We update or correct listings as new evidence arrives. Where we only have a venue's own word, we say so, and we date it.
Liability
We publish in good faith, but kitchens, suppliers and ownership change between our checks, so we can't guarantee a venue's halal status at the moment you visit — always confirm anything critical with the venue directly. We aren't liable for a restaurant's business decisions, ingredient changes, or kitchen practices between checks. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that can't be limited by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If something's wrong, email zahid@halaljoints.com first and we'll do our best to sort it before anything formal.
