Privacy policy.
What we collect, how we use it, and how to get it back. Plain English, no dark patterns.
What we collect
We keep it to what the guide actually needs. When you join the waitlist or reserve an edition, we store the email address you give us so we can sign you in and send you the guides you asked for. If and when a reservation is charged, Stripe records the payment details on our behalf — we never see or store your full card number. Alongside that we collect basic, largely anonymised analytics about how pages are used. We don't ask for anything we don't need, and we never buy in data about you from third parties.
How we use it
Your email is used to send the sign-in links and one-time codes that get you into your account, to deliver the editions you reserved, and to send only the emails you opted into — the launch note and updates about your city. Analytics tells us which pages work and which are broken so we can fix them. We don't build advertising profiles, and we don't make automated decisions that affect you.
Who we share it with
We rely on a small, named set of processors, each acting only on our instructions under a data-processing agreement: Stripe handles payments and reservations, our email provider sends the waitlist and transactional emails, and Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity measure how the site is used. None of them may use your data for their own purposes. We do not sell your data, and we never share it for advertising.
Your rights
Halal Joints is operated from the United Kingdom, and we process personal data under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. You have the right to access the data we hold on you, receive an exported copy, have it corrected, or have it deleted entirely. Email zahid@halaljoints.com and we'll action any request within 30 days. If you're ever unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can also raise it with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Cookies & analytics
We set a single first-party cookie, hj_session, purely to keep you signed in — it isn't used for tracking or advertising. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity may set their own cookies to measure usage, and Clarity records anonymised session replays that help us spot broken layouts. You can opt out at any time through your browser controls or the providers' own opt-out tools, and doing so won't stop the guide from working.
