Kanada-Ya 金田家

I had the Truffle Ramen with added complementary toppings and started with an Onigiri filled with chashu. I liked the rice ball itself, but the pork filling was quite hard and did not feel like it was slow cooked at all. I ordered my noodles "barikata" (very firm) but they came out very soft, almost overcooked. It might be because they use very thin noodles, either way it was not what I expected. The broth was not very nice either. It had a strange olive-like bitterness that did not complement the noodles or toppings.

The chashu pork loin in the ramen was hard and not tender at all. As for the truffle, it tasted cheap and left an unpleasant stank on my breath for hours. I know truffle is strong, but this did not taste like good truffle. I also do not like that you have to pay extra to add an egg when the ramen is already pricey.

The service was pretty average and they seemed bothered.

I was particularly disappointed with this dish, but I might try another ramen on a future visit to see if it is better.

I visited Kanada-Ya in London with a group of people, and while the ramen was absolutely worth trying, be prepared to queue, we waited more than 30 minutes in line before getting seated. The place is small and very popular, so the wait makes sense, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re hungry.
Once inside, the vibe is cozy and minimal, very much a no-frills ramen shop focused on the food. I ordered their tonkotsu ramen and it delivered: rich, creamy broth, great noodle texture, and really flavorful toppings. It’s clear why people keep coming back.
Seating is a bit tight, but the food comes out quickly once you’re in.

If you’re looking for your new favourite London ramen then look no further. We got the Tonkostu X ramen (decadent, silky and fatty), Chicken Chashu ramen (proper chicken smack of flavour) and ebi katsu (eat asap, they’re crazy juicy when hot!). Firm and regular noodles. Not too salty.

Enjoyed the chicken katsu curry for lunch. But there was a construction going on right in front of the restaurant very loud and dusty, I was stressed. Also when it was getting crowded, felt stuffy wouldn’t want to stay longer. Probably suitable for a quick lunch only.

I’m really disappointed that the taste is not as good as before 🥲 (i was a regular here since 2015-2018) and I used to think that this is the best ramen ever. But now the ramen itself is not as thick as before, so the flavors aren’t that rich. The waiting time is long as always (came in at dinner time). But well the karaage was a win though 👌 love the wasabi sauce so much.

I haven't had Ramen for a long time, and the last time I visited Kanada Ya was the Covent Garden branch. That place was packed but service was swift and it flowed smoothly. I visited the Haymarket branch on this occasion.

My lunchtime order was the large Tonkotsu X Ramen and the green tea. The table is so small where I sat and with a companion, I would think the table will be crowded.

The large felt small even, the chashu was thinly sliced. It would be a better mouthfeel if it was more thickly sliced. The broth was moreish, and tea was fine.

I ordered the chicken ramen, I’ve tried in many places so far this is the best also Chatgpt’s first recommended place 🤣 try the chicken one if not eating pork sooooo good delicious 🤤 they also give a complementary green tea either hot or cold which I found so cute 🥰

Food was delicious and authentic as were the drinks. I haven’t been to Kanada-Ya in a few years but it was just as good. The menu has also expanded but remained authentic. I will return.

one of the best ramens I've ever had! I had tried the tonkotsu x the first time, and the second time I went for the truffle one - my current favorite! if you're looking for more flavour, this is definitely the best choice. great service, I 100% recommend it. can't wait to to be back again!

We ordered the tonkotsu x ramen which was delicious, flavoursome and was a decent portion size. The broth was rich and silky.

The staff were friendly and provided great service, and the restaurant had a relaxed atmosphere.

There's a good selection of food and drink options on the menu. I really like my iced oolong tea.

Had a quick lunch here last week. The ramen was delicious, and the restaurant was spacious and clean. Also, there’s no service charge here, which is a nice bonus!

Wow, this place used to be passable but can now only be described as overpriced worse than instant ramen. We ordered gyoza and chicken paiten ramen for the tokyo signature wavy yellow noodles. Base ramen cost around £19, with extras and gyoza around £33 for one person (spendy but for good ramen delivered I was willing to pay). Noodles were hard, thick, brittle and not in an aldente way - it's not an exaggeration that shin ramen would have been more enjoyable. Gyoza tasted hard and frozen, similar to waitrose offering. That's the last time I'll be visiting this place.

If you are vegetarian or only eat halal, there are few options here.

The vegetarian option for ramen was not good at all. I understand that the base of a ramen broth is traditionally meat based so I am not complaining. But maybe this isn’t a dish that is meant to be vegetarian, a taste nice!

The other option are the croquettes, curry and rice.
The deep fried croquettes are really really nice and curry sauce compliments it well.

Yuzu lemonade is really nice and refreshing too. On the sweeter side.

Service is exceptional.

This one’s a bit of a mixed experience, and I think a few factors could make or break it depending on when you visit. I went on a Saturday evening without a booking. It was super busy, which is usually a good sign, but I had to wait around 15 minutes outside for a table. Once seated, the service felt rushed and impersonal – staff were clearly overwhelmed, running around like headless chickens, and it felt like they just wanted to get people in and out quickly.

I asked for some guidance with the menu since there are a lot of ramen options, and while the server gave me a recommendation, it wasn’t very helpful. I was surprised that the ramen doesn’t come with an egg as standard and you had to pay to have it – though the marinated egg I ordered was very tasty.

I mentioned that I enjoy spicy food and was recommended their spicy version of ramen. Unfortunately, it was way too spicy – so much so that it completely overpowered the flavour and richness of the broth. It didn’t taste like a properly balanced spicy ramen, more like a regular broth with loads of chilli sauce mixed in. At that level of heat, it would’ve made much more sense to serve the chilli oil on the side and let customers adjust it themselves.

That said, the ingredients themselves were fresh and good quality, so I do believe their standard ramen bowls are probably much better. But overall, between the lack of care in service and the overpowering dish, the experience just didn’t leave a good taste in my mouth – and I wouldn’t return to try anything else.

I had no intention of eating ramen this evening, but when I passed by this restaurant, I decided to give it a shot.

I ordered the Tonkatsu X ramen with a Hanjuku Ramen Egg.

The bowl of noodles came to my table in less than 5 me minutes.

The broth was excellent and the noodles were cooked to perfection. The sliced pork belly was also tasty and tender.

The Ramen egg was prepared beautifully, firm on the outside with the yolk being slightly runny inside.

Service was top notch to say the least.

The ramen was delicious. I ordered the spicy ramen with an extra egg (the egg was so good!) I was honestly impressed when the food arrived; it looked amazing 😂😂 The rice was also tasty, though it might be even better with some sauce or something since it was a bit on the dry side.

Ramen was yummy and the broth flavoursome. It's a very busy place and the service is very slow due to lack of staff available, they are really nice though. It definitely felt very overpriced. We spent £50 for two rames and I did not get any additions on mine.

I came here with high expectations but was a bit let down. First of all, my all time favourite ramen will always be tonkotsu pork ramen. So, I order it every time I go to any ramen places. Their tonkotsu ramen has great flavoursome broth and the noodles was cooked to my liking. One of my complains was...they charge an extra £2.85 if you want an egg in your ramen. Which shocked me truly as this is the first ever ramen place that I went to that charge for an egg. I thought it automatically comes with all ramens. Second was, the pork, though thinly cut, it wasn't tender at all. I'm used to kinda melt in your mouth pork belly in tonkotsu. So, was really disappointed with my ramen. The best part was the Karaage chicken. It's also one of my favourite Japanese food so I was well impressed with it.

Went for a Sunday lunch with friends and it was a pleasant experience, with the food quality standing out. The donburi set was a great deal, and the tonkotsu ramen had a rich, creamy broth that was really good. The overall atmosphere has a comforting, standard Asian vibe that feels authentic and inviting.
The only minor issue was that the dishes did not arrive together, and the floor staff seemed a little understaffed, which affected the service coordination. However, the excellent quality of the broth and noodles makes this a fantastic ramen spot worth visiting. Recommended 👍🏼.

The place is quite easy to miss, tucked away among a few newly built residential blocks. There were a few empty tables, but they hadn’t been cleared yet. The staff told us we’d need to wait about 15–20 minutes — I think there was only one person on the floor, which didn’t seem very reasonable. Still, I’d been looking for the place for ages and was pretty hungry, so we decided to wait. Luckily, the tonkotsu noodles were delicious, but the yakitori was far too salty and overpriced, so I wouldn’t recommend it.

This is the 1st time I had ramen as a delivery service. I had the standard Tonkotsu Ramen with extra noodles and an egg.
The soup came in a separate container, so did all the toppings and the extra noodles
So I mixed it all and the ramen was not soggy.
However, the delivery person made another stop for a different delivery on the way and that meant that my order took a long time and the food was lukewarm. So not ideal and 3-4 star because of that.

As a regular customer of this site, I was very happy to participate in the survey and receive a complimentary chicken karaage. I am also delighted to see the menu expanding, especially with the addition of sukiyaki, which I enjoyed very much.
That said, I would like to humbly offer some feedback regarding the service. While today’s experience was excellent ,with clear explanations for the sukiyaki and warm, attentive service; there have been previous occasions where the service felt quite inconsistent. I had initially assumed the person in charge was the owner, but later learned she is the manager. Unfortunately, her manner on some visits came across as somewhat distant, and regrettably, her attitude on several occasions has felt somewhat dismissive.
About two weeks ago, my friends and I waited at the entrance for quite some time to be seated. Although the manager clearly noticed us, we did not receive any acknowledgment. My friend became so frustrated that she decided to leave, and naturally, I had to follow her. I had promised her that I would share feedback regarding that experience, but I had forgotten until we visited again- so here it is!
I sincerely hope the restaurant can take these comments into consideration, as the food truly has great potential!

My 1st time here, we were very welcomed by a nice girl who treated us really well.
Service was quick, and the food was really tasty, a proper taste of Japanese food.
The desert, I will definitely choose again 1000crepe Ruby.
The tea was nice, too.
