The Goring Dining Room Westminster

Really great experience at the Goring Dining room. We celebrated my partner's birthday and every detail had been considered. The staff were very friendly and approachable, we were made to feel very welcome and the food was exceptional. Perfect place to celebrate something special or as a treat.

I’ve visited The Goring Dining Room several times in the past, but this was my first visit since its interior revamp around 18 months ago. The restaurant is located on the ground floor, just a short walk from the entrance. The refreshed décor is elegant and striking—green and white wallpaper, grand chandelier-style light fittings, and deep green curtains set the tone. Mirrors are framed with small silhouette portraits and miniature paintings, while a red-and-white floral carpet grounds the space. The seating design is particularly attractive, with semicircular booths in a rich red fabric at the centre, surrounded by tables around the periphery. The food was equally impressive. The bread was excellent with butter (though I wasn’t a fan of the marmite butter). The amuse-bouche was a pleasant start. For starters, the trout tartare with cucumber was fresh, light, and beautifully balanced. The watercress velouté, served with a large cheese ravioli, was also superb. For mains, the leg of partridge was presented dramatically, complete with the leg. The meat itself was tender, paired with a rich jus, smooth purée, and grilled onion. The sole dish was delicately plated, with the bone running through the centre. The flavour was subtle yet refined, enhanced by a lovely sauce and sweet potato purée. Desserts were a highlight. The sassi baba came flambéed with Calvados—an impressive presentation and equally delightful taste. The “cloud” dessert, with lemon sponge and hazelnuts at the base, was good though less memorable than the baba. Service throughout was impeccable—professional yet warm, attentive without being intrusive. With its new interior, the dining room feels even more elevated. The set lunch menu (two or three courses) offers excellent value and makes for a memorable dining experience.

We had an absolutely wonderful lunch here, celebrating our anniversary. The heirloom tomatoes were a perfect starter on a hot day. I had the truffle-stuffed chicken, which was fabulous!! The cured egg yolk was the perfect umami complement to the hen of the woods' tartlet. My husband had the Sunday roast, which came with a generous assortment of sides. Dessert was also lovely. We really appreciated the gestures by the team to make our anniversary memorable! Special thanks to David, who gave us some fantastic suggestions about the menu, and also told us all about the history of The Goring and showed us some special hidden nuances of the dining room! We hope we'll have an opportunity to come back!!
