We tried prawn fried rice,egg fried rice and last but not the least noddles with chicken gravy and spicy sauce. It was so delicious I can’t get over from that.
Everyone should try and also it’s halal ☺️

Fast service, good portions on main meals, on this occasion served with a side order of food poisoning afterwards. AVOID.

(I reported my food poisoning incident to Newham Council but they refused to investigate as they need complaints to be backed up by medical evidence! So if you’re reading this and end up seeing your doctor/going to hospital after eating here, please email the council so they will actually do something about food safety.)

Food is not very authentic - maybe the noodle dishes are better. Sauce with dumplings should be a dumpling sauce (made with some vinegar) and not plain soy sauce. Malaysian curry was fairly generic with pre-cooked chicken added to the sauce; it wouldn’t be difficult to make the usual yellow curry instead and you could charge more for it. The food is halal and therefore there is no pork on the menu - however, this greatly limits the menu options given it’s supposed to be Chinese street food.

Reports of food poisoning are concerning - Lotus Leaf has a food safety rating of 3 in March  2022 but given my experience it should be aiming for 4 or 5.

Judging by other recent reviews, this is a business that could do with a complete overhaul of the way it’s run. If I were the owner I would turn this into a dumpling stall. It’s hard to get gyoza-style dumplings wrong and harder to give people food poisoning selling those.

I had the Roast Duck with Jasmine Rice. And a noodles (cant remember which one)

The duck was very good. Succulent, juicy, delicious. The rice was good, the soy sauce made it an overall solid combo.

The noodles, however, was bland and/or under-salted - I'd recommend not to go for it.

There was big queue to order. I think that's a testament to the fact that they do make good food.

I was a little surprised to see it rated so low on Google.

My GF and I love this restaurant very much. We are Hong Konger and Taiwanese, and it is surprising that they can make Chinese food so well even without one Chinese chef. I see no reason why some people gave them one or two stars, probably their tongues are broken. This is our second time coming to lotus leaf and we will come every time when we visit Westfield.

A couple of weeks ago I stopped here to eat.  I ordered fried rice with duck.  Unfortunately the duck was raw, and when I came back and explained to the staff they not only treated me badly but made me move away from the counter so as not to let others hear.  Now I went there yesterday and look a bit the place is closed.
