I’ve eaten at Dishoom many times before, so this isn’t my first rodeo. The building and décor are excellent — Dishoom always nails the atmosphere — but this visit really struggled on food quality. Yes, it’s Indian food with a twist and not meant to mirror a traditional curry house, but for me the food felt overpriced and largely mediocre in both quality and range. This is purely based on my personal experience and expectations of Indian food, so no offence intended — just an honest take. Food • Charred Lamb Chops – 5/5 for flavour and quality, but 3/5 on value. Nearly £20 for roughly 2.5 chops feels steep. • Bhel – Fine, but forgettable. • Vada Pau – Average, nothing that stood out. • Chicken Kathi Roll – Decent, but not memorable. • Mutton Pepper Fry – 1/5. Poorly executed and tasted far from fresh. • Tandoori Roti – 4/5. Perfectly fine. • Fresh Nimbu Soda – 3/5. More ice than soda. • No-Hafta Colada – Same issue as above. • Passionfruit Sherbet – Again, overly diluted. • Chai – 3/5. Very gingery. We were also not told it was unlimited, which felt like a miss. Service Some elements of our order arrived cold (or at least not properly heated), and there was no apology or acknowledgement, which was disappointing. Overall Dishoom is a solid option for a casual lunch or meeting, but it’s not for me anymore. For genuinely great Indian food, I’ll be sticking with the traditionalists where price, taste and choice will invariably win.

We visited Dishoom for the first time on a date night, and it was such a lovely experience. The restaurant itself is beautifully styled a little on the darker side, but the interior design is stunning and creates a really cosy atmosphere. I don’t usually eat Indian food as I’m always worried it might be too spicy, but I was pleasantly surprised. Everything we had was very mild, full of flavour, and served in generous portions. The staff were absolutely lovely and very helpful. When we first sat down, we felt a bit overwhelmed by the size of the menu, but our waiter was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything to us, which made choosing so much easier. For starters, we had the veggie samosas, which were delicious. We then shared a Chicken Kathi Roll a big portion and full of flavour. For my main, I had the Murgh Malai, which was not spicy at all and paired perfectly with a garlic naan and yogurt sauces. It was absolutely delicious and easily my favourite dish of the night. My partner had the Chicken Berry Britannia and loved it just as much. Big up to sunny’s star-tini. The portions were so generous that we didn’t have room for dessert, but we’ll definitely be back to try more because we had such a wonderful time and the food was outstanding. This was genuinely the first time in my life that I’ve truly enjoyed Indian food! I don’t remember the name of our waiter, but he made our first visit even more special with his kindness and helpfulness. Highly recommend, and we can’t wait to return.
