couldn’t see a name on the outside of the restaurant, so it was mysterious, in a good way! The atmosphere is amazing with lots of great decor. One thing to note, if you want a quieter atmosphere, ask for a table upstairs. We started with the Orange Ruby (non alcoholic) and Yatri cocktails. Excellent taste on both. The server recommended for the two of us selecting two dishes, each from the small medium and large sections of the menu. - Swiss Chard Vada - nice spice kick, good texture - Gunpowder Goli Vadai - I was afraid this might be too spicy, but it was perfect. Great texture. Great coconut chutney accompanies this. - Hot Butter Squids - great, not chewy. A little spicy. - Thattkudada Fried Chicken - really yummy. Boneless. Loved the masala crumbs. - Southern Kerala, shrimp mango curry- really yummy. Liked the egg appam accompaniment. Lots of sauce, would’ve been great with rice to soak it up with. - Lamb Shoulder Chettinad - so tender! Boneless. Served with kal-dosai. Also lots of sauce, would’ve been so good to have some rice with this as well. For dessert, we split a watalappan. Super tasty, like a flan. Butterscotch cream with it was really good too. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. I think that coming when the restaurant opens for the evening probably helped to guarantee good food and service. Perhaps some of the other reviews that said otherwise were for diners who came when it was busier. It is a pretty expensive dinner, but I can definitely see why the price is so - there’s a lot of care and creativity put into the dishes.

Today I visited Copra in San Francisco and had a wonderful dining experience. The ambiance is stunning, modern, lively, and beautifully designed, making it perfect for a relaxed evening or team outing. We tried a few dishes that were creative and full of flavor, with a great balance of traditional and contemporary Indian influences. The presentation was impressive, and the food tasted fresh and well-crafted. The bar area adds great energy to the place, and the service was attentive without being intrusive. Overall, Copra offers a unique upscale Indian dining experience and is definitely worth visiting if you’re in San Francisco.

So good! Loved the vibe and food. Was expecting food to be mediocre and overpriced but it actually retained many authentic aspects and taste despite the emphasis on the presentation. Also love the variety of food, many special dishes from coastal areas of India. We loved the fish curry (roasted naymeen), chopped stir fried paratha (forgot the name), rasam poori, mysore dosa — Went back and tried the copra toast, uttapam, beef main and rasam puri. So good!

It was my 3rd time here. Went for a team dinner. We tried all the vegetarian items on the menu and fried chicken. The fried chicken is one of the best things on the menu. Also loved gunpowder vadai, cauliflower curry, all the chaat dishes. We did not have a reservation but luckily called them and got one table.

Copra lived up to its reputation in every way possible. From the eclectic earthy vibe to the creative cocktails & the authentic dishes - reminded us of home cooked South Indian specialities. Service was attentive and friendly. Definitely a memorable experience for Indian food lovers.
