This is a very honest and detailed review about the restaurant. First of all, we found that the restaurant had really good reviews on Google Maps, so we decided to try it. We ordered three different dishes: 1. Burger – it tasted like a homemade burger, but it wasn’t good at all. The meat was completely tasteless. 2. Jood mixed plate – this was the worst one. The food was actually burnt, and they still served it to us. I asked to speak to the manager, but they said the manager wasn’t there today. 3. Caesar salad – does this even look like a Caesar salad to you? The way the lettuce was cut, the sauce, and even the type of cheese (which was not Parmesan, by the way) made me very upset. The only thing I liked was my Rubicon drink. Honestly, it was a waste of money.

One word - poor. I thought I’d give this spot a try as I’ve walked past it on one of my routes I take on the way to town and saw quite a few good reviews of the place. I walked in and was slightly confused, I saw staff in the kitchen but wasn’t sure if we should find a table ourselves or wait for someone to set us on a table? We then figured out it’s self seated. We then looked at the menu and ordered but then we were confused again.. are we supposed to order at the counter or is it table service? With only two staff working there nothing was really communicated to the customers and it wasn’t just my party that thought this, a few other tables were waiting for someone to take their order at their tables too - which could be communicated clearly to any customers that come in. The food also took a long time to come and the staff needed to be reminded of the drinks that we ordered. Onto the food, I ordered a Jamaican jerk bowl and a platter and fancied some chilli cheese chips (thinking that they were chilli con carne on chips with cheese as shown on the photos on the screens) but both chilli and cheese wasn’t on the menu so I asked the staff and they said it was fine no worries. Once I got the fries I was slightly perplexed - it was some processed American cream cheese on the fries, but where’s the chilli? So I took this back and the chef said he added it, by chilli on the menu they meant chilli powder not actual chilli even though it shows that on the menu? (you’ll see in my photo how lacklustre it is 😆) After the fries disappointment we then got the rest of our dishes, hoping these would be better and they were - but to be honest there wasn’t really a bar set by the fries. The Jamaican jerk rice bowl was pretty good but it got ruined by the salsa which was essentially mixed in already as it was on top, it wasn’t a good combination as the bowl itself was hot but the salsa was incredibly cold like it came out the fridge, and too much was added so it was overly sour. Lastly the kebab platter was poor also - chicken was dry, flavourless dry bread and rice it was not an enjoyable experience whatsoever.

Karim gave us the best service, always kind and smiling with every request, even when we asked for the music to be lowered. The food was excellent; we had the Greek platter and an Italian burger.

We were recommended Jood by my cousin who has visited many times over the last few weeks and we weren’t disappointed at all. Very reasonable prices for the quality; we went for the oriental burger, oriental loaded box, dynamite hot dog, wings, the Jood combo platter and a few san pellegrinos to wash it all down. We would visit again but are only in town for one night! The owner is also very friendly and it was nice to meet him!
