Fuego 1987

Fuego 1987 is located just outside of Kargo MKT in Quayside, Centre Bay. It has a small shop front that’s easy to miss if you’re not specifically looking for it.

I ended up here after visiting another vendor in the market. I was craving Mexican food, and this was the only taco option available.

Their menu looks extensive, but when I arrived, only one item was available, the Beef Birria Tacos. I was hoping for chicken or steak, but they had sold out. I went with the beef, and about five minutes later, the buzzer went off and my order was ready.

Honestly, the food underwhelmed me. The flavours were extremely subtle, and the mozzarella cheese mellowed things out even more. It was messy (as expected with birria), but lacked the punchy spicy Mexican seasoning I was hoping for.

Overall, the experience left me a bit disappointed due to the limited options and muted flavour. That said, I’m open to giving it another go if I’m back in the area and they have more menu items available.

Price wise, it was £14 for three tacos which is a little pricey, but fairly standard for street food these days.

Located in a lovely position with a beautiful view. Food packed with flavour and cooked to perfection. Staff all kind helpful, professional & well presented. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Thankyou Fuegos, Best tacos I’ve tried yet!! xx

Got Birria tacos. Everything I ever wanted and more. Cannot recommend enough, plenty seating options too, food was ready quickly within 5-10 mins of ordering. Will be back

Hassan at Fuego was a life saver! We arrived just before closing as he was just serving his final customer and yet he served us no problem, no complaints with a smile on his face. Service 11/10, The food was really good, considering it was the end of the day that was one of the best tacos I ever had (chipotle chicken) and the Birria ramen was 11/10. Definitely recommend, thank you Hassan

Absolutely loved this spot! Their birria tacos were incredible — juicy, flavorful, and perfectly crispy on the outside. The consommé was rich and packed with depth, making every bite even better. Definitely a must-visit if you’re a taco lover! 🌮🔥
