Caramello Cafes Ltd

First time at Caramello and it was worth the drive to get there.

Place was quite full but the atmosphere was still nice - not too loud and could hear the people on my table easily.

Food wise I got the chicken with waffles, turkey bacon, fried egg & maple syrup.

I absolutely loved this and everything was cooked perfectly. I would definitely recommend this dish to anyone.

My table also got a stack of pancakes to share and they were absolutely delicious - perfect for sharing with 2-4 people after your mains.

Hot chocolate was really nice and perfect for a cold winter afternoon.

The Palestine cola was a nice touch 🫶

Overall the food gets a 10/10.

Service was really good and couldn’t fault it at all, 10/10 there too.

I will definitely be back and trying a new dish!

Visited Karamellos in Manchester and absolutely loved it. I ordered the Karamelo Full English and it was spot on. The lamb sausages were packed with flavour and cooked perfectly,The freshly squeezed South African Valencia orange juice was super refreshing and tasted genuinely fresh, not the bottled stuff.

We also tried the shakshuka and it was amazing, rich, warming and full of flavour. You can tell care goes into the food here.

The place itself is cosy and welcoming, with a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to sit and enjoy your meal rather than rush off. Service was friendly and attentive too.

Overall, a great spot for breakfast or brunch in Manchester. Definitely recommend and will 100% be coming back.

Very honest and forthcoming regarding the expected wait time when we got there, appreciate the truth rather than just telling us "oh it'll only be 5 minutes".

We had children with us and they liked sherry then really well with colouring in activities.

General service, and the food, absolutely spot on!! Friendly staff. The presentation and the quality of food (both in terms of actual quality, and taste) left nothing to be desired.

Will definitely be returning, thank you for an enjoyable experience.

Haven't been in a while.  Staff, bit as friendly as before.  Nit helpful either.  We dropped orange juice all over the table.  Took someone 10 minutes to come with a tissue.  By that time my son had found napkins and cleaned the whole table.  Not as nice as me and my children recall it to be.

Very Disappointed After Years of Loyalty
We’ve been loyal customers of this café for over two years, travelling all the way from Bradford just to enjoy breakfast here. Despite the long drive and often waiting 45 minutes to an hour outside, we never minded — the food and experience were always worth it.

However, our recent visit left us very disappointed. I ordered the smashed avocado toast, which is priced at £12 — not cheap, but we've always been happy to pay for the quality we've received in the past. Unfortunately, this time was completely different.

The portion was shockingly small: one very thin slice of toast with a minimal amount of avocado barely spread across it, a tiny egg, and a few cherry tomatoes. It looked nothing like what we’ve been served before. The hummus — which is listed on the menu — was less than a teaspoon and spread thinly on the plate. There was no salad or garnish, which was usually part of the dish. Presentation was poor and it felt like a rushed job with no attention to detail.

I raised my concerns with the waiter and asked whether the portion sizes had been reduced. His explanation didn’t make much sense, and when I asked if he thought it was fair to charge £12 for what I received, he had no answer and said he would speak to the manager.

The scrambled egg I requested was undercooked and had to be sent back. Overall, it felt like the kitchen was just rushing food out without care or consistency.

The manager did offer us a small discount on the final bill, which we appreciated — but even after that, we still paid £25 for two very bare minimum breakfasts.

This visit was a huge letdown. We’ve always loved this café, but based on this experience, we’ve decided we won’t be returning. It's incredibly disappointing to see such a drop in quality and value.

La Chouquette Didsbury

I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. Could possibly be the best sausage roll and almond croissant I have ever eaten. You do pay for it but wow is it worth it. The young lad that served us was very nice and helpful. We haven’t tucked into the sourdough loaf yet, but it looks amazing. We will certainly be back and will recommend to all of our friends. Ps, the picture is of an empty box because I couldn’t wait 😂

My fav French pastry in UK! Recommended by my French friend and I’ve visited twice, trying my best to devour as much as I can lol. I am obsessed with their flans and almond croissants! Also they make really delicate and proper fruity pastry🤤always being more pleasant when receiving warm greetings from lovely staff from La Chouquette! Bisou bisou🩷

My favourite bakery shop in Manchester ❤️!  Love both the sweet and savoury items. Friendly staff there and nice environment. It can be very busy during weekends. BTW,  they have the massive croissant (need to be ordered in advanced) which is amazing. Their seasonal desserts are always lovely.

Best pastries and bread I’ve tasted in the uk. Defiantly good fresh ingredients quality and freshness is up there! Very busy - and expensive but it’s justified!

I have consistently purchased your cakes and breads, and you have always met my expectations. However, this birthday cake has left both me and my kids very disappointed. The cake I received is very different from the photo provided. Besides, the taste and texture are worse than those from supermarkets. I really can’t eat it.

Anchors Fish & Chips

Anchors has certainly got to my favourite fish and chip shop since moving back to Manchester from Whitby. I prefer a nice light batter, which this place has nailed! I can also recommend to pies, sausages and more. All round, fantastic. I also like that they are now offering Pollock thanks to its sustainability.
Also expect chunky chips!

I put an order in for 2 Large Cod 1 Sausage and a regular chips. We have been going here regularly. However this evening the Cod looked burnt and was all curled up. It appeared the oil was to hot.. when I said I wasnt happy the manager Natasha stepped in rather officious asking what I didn't like about the fish was it just that it was all curled up. She obviously lacks people skils and is not aware of the term your customer is usually right. I ended up getting a refund and leaving. The fact that its over priced at just under £33.00 for this order you would think she would have changed it. I've spoken to a friend of mine at the NFFF and a contact of ny brothers at the Food Standards Agency all agreed that the way food is served to the customer says a lot about the buisness. Especially as Fish & Chip shops have a large margin of tax write off due to waste.. My husband was in there a few weeks ago and they had forgotten to put tge Large Cod he had ordered in so he was left waiting for ages. At least I've been able to shine a spotlight on this issue.

Not the overwhelming portions of chips you used to get, but who ever managed to eat all of those anyway? I’m always properly full after a standard haddock/chips (and am a chunky mid-30s guy, who was described as ‘a good eater’ by some Spaniards on my last holiday) sometimes even not finishing. A bit pricey, but I think that’s most chippies these days, raw materials and didsbury rent can’t be fun to deal with, if the turnover along the high street is anything to go by

As soon as we walked in, the heavenly smell hit us, and we both proclaimed how good it smelt.

The room was clean, tidy, and nicely decorated and we even made reference to the art details that were painted on the wall 👌

I ordered a small cod, it was really cute, and actually ample for me (middle aged woman) as a main, and I reckon it'd be ample for my 14 year old son (who eats loads) too. My daughter chose the sausage which she tells me was "yeah, it was good" (high praise from a teenager 😆).

I shared a large chips with my 16 year old, to accompany our mains. Again, it filled the two of us, but it did look a *lot* smaller than I had expected it would be, as there were three sizes to choose from so I would imagine this to be a medium at an average chippy. I had hoped for that price, to have left overs to share with the other kids when we got home, but as it stands, please just don't tell them that we went, and I reckon we can just about get away without them knowing that we'd had it without them 😆

The pots of gravy and mushy peas were tiny. No where near enough to accompany the half a large chips per pot that we had planned on. And at £2.00 a pot I expected much more. I suspect much of the costing went on the very nice thick paper cups, the wooden cutlery wrapped with napkins, and of course a side of healthy profit.

The food was amazing! It was hot, crisp, salted to just the right amount, and beautifully flavourful. In fact, all food pics were taken after sampling a couple of mouthfuls because there was no way I was waiting to start so I could take a photo first 😆

Finally let's talk about prices. It's much more than I'd usually be willing to spend in a local chippy, but... It was extra quality along side the extra cost, so I guess it's a case of "getting what you pay for".

So would I come back? If I had the money and it was a treat, then, yes I would! And I'd be keen to try the battered halloumi. But it's not something I could frequent as a regular occurrence due to its prices, in this cost of living crisis.

Constructive suggestion; a couple of seats in there for the chance to sit while your food is being freshly cooked, would've been ideal and a real blessing to me.

Beyond that, great job guys n gals,

Passed by this shop today while heading to the train station. I'm so lucky I decided to pop in. I ordered Haddock and chips curry sauce with a can of dandelion and burdock. I can honestly hand on heart it was the best Fish and chips I've ever had.

Hare & Kin

Had a great experience with Lydia and the team. They went out of their way on a busy Sunday lunch time to make space for us and a pram, when baby was getting a bit hangry the kitchen expedited her meal (we didn’t request this) and made it a much more relaxed and enjoyable time. All of the staff that we interacted with were really friendly and helpful.
Had the chicken parmigiana sandwich which was also great, recommend

Absolutely lovely place for brunch, the staff were so attentive and kind, made plenty of space for us and let us bring our dog too. The food was absolutely delicious too! Would highly recommend.

Visited today to try steak and eggs. The best steak I’ve had in a very long time. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Melt in your mouth steak and the chimchuri was spot on. Husband enjoyed the orange juice, recommended from Jordan, and said the halal breakfast hit the spot without feeling too heavy. Apart from the excellent food, Jordan delivered exceptional customer service. He talked with a smile and looked after us from beginning to end. It was refreshing to see such great service.

It's a lively place with big portions. They're busy on the weekend so prepare for a bit slower service but good food.

Lovely metropolitan style cafe in the heart of Didsbury village. They have a good menu with classic dishes done to a high standard. I had eggs benidict and it was delightfully simple and yet complex tasting. The atmosphere is chilled and bohemian, and in summer, the open shop front adds to the vibe. The staff are friendly and helpfull and make you feel welcome. This is a great place to eat and or drink and i can recomend it to anyone. Bravo!

Corner & Bloom

Really lovely, relaxed atmosphere with pretty decor. Staff were unobtrusive, friendly and attentive. The food was immense! Large portions, fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. Thanks for a really delicious meal.

I ordered a Turkish eggs, which came with yogurt feta chilli oil, two poached eggs and sourdough bread. I feel like it was missing some seasoning to make it a traditional Turkish eggs, but maybe it was there take on it.
I also ordered a dark chocolate hot chocolate that I wasn’t a fan of. The chocolate sunk to the bottom even when stirring so you mostly got milk then intense chocolate.

It was very busy so clearly the locals are a fan, however this did mean a long wait and that it was quite a hard time flagging down the waitstaff. I think they may need one more person during their busier periods. It was also very loud and quite difficult to hear in the small cafe, I think they would benefit from some sound absorbers.

I liked the vibes of this place and would be up for coming back to try their lunch or dinner menu.

Dedicated gluten free menu, seated and served promptly even though they were very busy on a Saturday morning, great service and great food.

Called into this cafe for brunch today. We were definitely  not disappointed !
We did change one of the orders for the Festive Melt 😀 it was soooo delicious & a great choice.
We had cappuccinos too, very hot & all served by friendly staff.
Shall be visiting again when next in the area.

It’s always wonderful to see how busy this place gets on weekends, so with a rare mid-week day off, I seized the opportunity to visit!

I ordered the French toast with fresh berries, drizzled with white chocolate, and it was an absolute treat. Paired with a perfectly made cappuccino, it was exactly what I needed.

The service was friendly and attentive, which, sadly, isn’t something you find in every café these days.

I think people often forget that family-run businesses are exactly that—run by families! They thrive on patience, appreciation, and community support. Now more than ever, local independents need us to show up for them. If you’re looking for food made with care and served with a smile, this is the place to be.
