Viet Shack Restaurant

Had a lovely dinner here with my housemates! I had the pho chay and it was delicious- beautifully seasoned and a very large portion size. I also had a virgin cherry mojito which was pleasant but quite bitter. The bao bun dessert looked better than it tasted but was still decent. The service was good and the food came out quickly,  but the waitress who took our order seemed new- she was still lovely. Overall we had a nice evening and we will be returning!

Used to frequent Viet Shack a lot when I lived in town and this was my first visit back in a couple of years... the food has got even better! The crispy duck & rice dish was superb. Looking forward to returning again soon.

First place I’ve been to where none of the food disappointed! Such lovely balance and surprises of flavours without the food feeling too much or heavy. Service was so warm and welcoming. So glad I came here to end the night!!

Arrived around 5:50 pm on a Saturday evening — busy enough with most tables filled, but still comfortable. We sat down and ordered a Pho and Summer Rolls. Barely five minutes later, our food was on the table.

Having tried a lot of decent Vietnamese spots around Manchester since Viet Shack moved from the Arndale, I hadn’t visited this location until now. I have to say, it’s very impressive — the Pho was full of rich, aromatic flavours, and the Summer Rolls were fresh and beautifully presented.

Service was friendly and efficient despite the busy atmosphere, making the whole experience even better. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Ancoats and craving authentic Vietnamese food.

An excellent choice when you’re craving authentic Viet cuisine. The vibe is modern in a casual/trendy setting. The food is excellent and paired with fantastic service, you cannot go wrong here. Portions are good and prices are reasonable.  A must try when you’re in Chinatown.

Pho Cue is positioned as a mid-to-low-end Vietnamese restaurant. The flavor is average, but the prices are indeed low. The beef soup is just so-so, and the side dishes only included bean sprouts and small chili peppers—it’s the first time I’ve seen a Vietnamese restaurant that didn’t serve basil. There’s not much worth commenting on; the food isn’t exactly tasty, but it’s not unpleasant either! Overall, it matches its mid-to-low pricing, so there’s really nothing much to complain about.

I don’t usually leave negative reviews, as everyone has different tastes. However, this experience was genuinely disappointing and concerning.
We ordered Bun bo Hue and bun rieu, and unfortunately what was served was not Vietnamese food at all. The flavours, appearance, and ingredients were completely incorrect and bore no resemblance to these dishes. Anyone familiar with Vietnamese cuisine would immediately recognise that these were not authentic versions.
I understand that restaurants may adapt flavours for a wider audience, but changing a dish to the point where it no longer represents what it claims to be is misleading. If you are advertising traditional Vietnamese dishes, there should at least be some respect for their core ingredients and preparation.
Very disappointing, especially for customers expecting genuine Vietnamese cuisine.
As a Vietnamese person, I can confidently confirm that these dishes were not Vietnamese dishes at all.

Pho Cue’s food is super heart warming and tasty. Their garlic butter chicken is a must try, seasoning is just right! The Vietnamese coffee is superb. Summer rolls with avocado and tofu is quite a healthy bite with a yummy dip sauce. Special Pho is light for the tummy and flavourful. We will visit again next time to try other foods in the menu.

We ordered a classic ribeye beef pho, a special pho, and a summer roll. Each pho was generous in portion and tasted good. It's a great place to go after get off work.

Hop Vietnamese Market Street

This is my new favourite fast food place, wish I'd tried it sooner. You can use an allergen filter on the order screens, plenty of options for vegan and gluten free. Food is quick, no service charge, deals to suit every budget. Big up the staff who are really friendly and hard working. Dishes are tasty and filling. Everyone should try the pulled mushrooms. Nice drinks too. There is a juke box to use and the decor is fun. Scared to try in London incase it doesn't match up to Manchester!

We visited Hop this evening and had a wonderful experience. We ordered two bowls of Pho — one with caramel chicken and one with shredded chicken — as well as two portions of dumplings. Everything was delicious and freshly prepared.
A special shout-out to our server, Amara. She was incredibly friendly and attentive. She even made a fresh batch of dumplings for us and brought them to our table afterward. Her service truly made our visit exceptional.

Great find near the Arndale Centre, daughter and myself fancied noodles/rice for lunch, busy place, but fast service ordered off the touchscreen, meaning you can easily customise each dish!! Loved being able to add extras etc., really tasty and fresh with a good kick!.. Would deffo call back next time in the area 😎

Was looking for something to eat and i found HOP. Went for caramel chicken banh mi and it was delicious. Chicken meat with tons of flavour, fresh veggies and that sticky sauce…really tasty guys. Friendly staff and great local design. I’d say it’s fairly priced. Can definitely recommend. 😀

What a Gem 💎 of a find after a truly unexpected visit with all the choices that I had around with the Christmas markets being on also. When it comes to food I’m very fussy as the food quality has to be good and the value for what you get and this place did not disappoint me!
Myself and my wife were out Christmas shopping and we did walk around the markets where my wife had something from them and I opted to come here. (I’m just sorry I didn’t get any pictures tbh)
I’ve never been to HOP before and I am glad that I just walked in and tried it out because it was a lovely lunch and I thoroughly enjoyed it. (Healthy as well which is always a priority of mine and the Christmas markets for me is well it’s not the healthiest of places nor is it the cheapest) as for the portion sizes from what I got from HOP and what my wife got from the markets and she actually paid more than I did, she was gutted that she didn’t come here with me lol.
The restaurant was clean, the staff were pleasant enough and friendly, the service was quick, the order was easy with the self ordering monitors and you just wait for your number. There was plenty of seating and as I said it was clean.
My order was a HOP box and side order with shredded chicken, with new satay lemongrass drizzle, fish Nuoc Cham, spring onion oil, mixed herbs, crispy onion, coriander, peanuts. With crispy chicken sides and chilli sauce. The portion sizes were great and worth the money for what you got.
I will be definitely be going here again and trying out something else. Totally enjoyed my first experience at HOP. Thank you and see you again soon.
