The Olde Cotton Mill Bistro and Tea Room

The Olde Cotton Mill were amazing when we booked for 20 people after a funeral. The service was warm, attentive, and effortless, and the food was fresh, delicious, and plentiful. They made a difficult day so much easier — truly above and beyond. Highly recommend!

The experience was so good, we came back twice in a week! Photos and video from 2nd visit.

I’ve now visited The Olde Cotton Mill Bistro and Tea Room twice and both experiences were outstanding! The first time I went for dinner and chose from the smokehouse menu, which was absolutely incredible,  easily some of the best food I’ve had. Every dish was full of flavour and cooked to perfection.
My second visit was for breakfast, and it was just as impressive. I genuinely couldn’t fault a thing, the food was fantastic and the service was exceptional, friendly and attentive throughout.
The place itself is so unique, warm and homely, with a welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer. Everything about it from the food to the service and setting is spot on. I truly couldn’t fault it in any way.
I’m blessed to have this place right on my doorstep,  no need to travel far when somewhere this special is so close by. A real gem and highly recommended!

Came here for my birthday with family. Excellent food. Superb service from the staff especially Hayat. Lovely restaurant will definitely come again.

Stopped over for some brunch before we set off back to London. Met a friend. Delicious food, fresh, fast, well priced, lovely friendly staff, great service. Overall awesome place for brunch options. Coffee was great!

Nice bistro , lovely interior,food was good reasonable prices, wasn't keen on cheese pie with spice,some of the staff need a little customer service training.

I recently attended a wedding at Stanley House Hotel & Spa, and the whole experience was exceptional from start to finish. The venue is absolutely stunning — a perfect blend of modern elegance and historic charm. The grounds are beautifully maintained and made an amazing backdrop for photos.

The wedding was organized flawlessly. Staff were friendly, attentive, and seemed genuinely invested in making the day run smoothly. Everything, from the ceremony setup to the evening reception, felt well-timed and thoughtfully arranged.

The food was another highlight. Every course was delicious, beautifully presented, and served piping hot despite the large number of guests. The bar and service team were also brilliant throughout the evening.

Overall, Stanley House is a fantastic choice for a wedding. The atmosphere, service, and setting all exceeded expectations. I’d happily return and would recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable venue in the Blackburn area.

This is quite a difficult one.  The hotel is lovely,  the rooms are very good, with ample space and facilities.
Unfortunately,  it's let down by a few small, but very important details.
We spent 2 nights for a friends wedding.  The wedding planner was excellent. She went over and above on the day ensuring the happy couple were very well looked after.
What needs attention are:
The sofa bed in both bedrooms I saw were not fit for purpose.  We didn't need to use as a bed, but the sofa had zero support so you fell through it!!
Our first breakfast was just about OK. The bacon was massively over cooked and hard. Missing mushrooms, what I'm sure was packet scrambled egg. We had to return our coffees as they were grainy and undrinkable. We were offered replacement Americanos that, whilst not Brilliant,  were OK.
Our evening meal was very tasty and we very much enjoyed it. However, the order was not correct and potato's were served after we all (5 of us) had started our meals.
Second breakfast was much better, although the coffee was still undrinkable.  No offer of a different coffee as, apparently,  they only had the one type. We were offered tea, unfortunately we don't like tea.
I truly think that the issue is with staff training. The service staff were quite attentive but seems to lack any continuity.  Cups no saucers, no condiments offered (we didn't need, so not an issue).
It's the little things and they definitely fell short of what is otherwise an excellent venue.
Overall,  I would go back, but would communicate our issues. As we were on a time schedule for the wedding,  and not wishing to cause the bride and groom any stress, we left it at that. The catering staff were definitely aware of some of the issues.

Room was spacious with proper facilities. The spa was nice and not too busy, lovely view of the gardens! The restaurant was okay - food was average pub food and there was a bit of a wait, but not as bad as other reviews suggested. All the staff were super friendly throughout our stay.

One constructive point is that the hotel and spa systems aren’t linked up, so any queries or changes took a while because the 2 sides had to phone each other.

Overall enjoyable stay, would come back for the spa!

Absolutely stunning place to stay. Great value for money. Friendly staff. Not far from other amenities. Staff went above and beyond and upgraded my room for me. Highly recommended and will be back for another stay as the rooms were beautiful and comfortable. Missed out on the spa bht will go next time. Thank you 😊

I recently stayed at Stanley House for a spa break and, while there were some positives, the experience didn’t quite live up to expectations. The highlight was definitely the food — it was well prepared and thoroughly enjoyable.
However, the overall cleanliness fell short of what I’d expect at this price point, and both the spa and the room felt below the standard advertised. If you’re staying for two nights, it seems reasonable to have spa access on both days, but that wasn’t the case, which was disappointing. Simple maintenance and attention to detail would have improved the stay considerably.
Although the break was relaxing in parts, it didn’t feel worth the cost, and unfortunately I wouldn’t choose to return.

Really bad service order fish and chips speacial apparently dry as anything not even proper fish and chip shop audley chippy would have done a better.very disappointed guy didn't even add sauce lucky I ordered a curry sauce but was like water!

Bought some chips while passing buy.

Was served quick style, but there weren't any other customers in the store..

The chips were 2.50.

The chips came in a mixture of chunky chips but also some end of batch style pieces... you know the small crispy chips at the bottom of the fryer...

Some of the chips were hard inside, so I'd say tad bit undercooked...

Overall ok but compared to other chips shops in the area, they are a tad bit pricier... but nothing major...

Will try out the fish in my next visit...

Chips were quite nice but waaay too salty. Sausage tasted vile and went straight in the bin. Lamb kebab was almost okay, but every other mouthful contains fat and rock hard gristle that I nearly broke my teeth on. Clearly the food place for wild animals and not humans.

Was quite upset when AJK shut down as it was my go to chippy which never once failed me. With no real options available in Blackburn I’ve gone without this British delicacy for far too long. I saw a post on this place and thought to myself i must try it so ventured out to Accy road. Parking is available on the side street, the shop is nice and clean and they do take card. The lovely young lady took my order with a smile (not akin to Queens) and I waited no longer than 10 mins for the large Special Fish and Chips to be served. I believe it was £11.50 and it was of a decent portion. Fish was flakey and meaty (Haddock) and with a thin crispy batter, the special sauce and garnishing was not spicy but rather complimented the fish which came with proper chip shop chips. I really enjoyed this meal and will definitely be visiting again.

Mate where do I even start, just got a special fish and chips and a regular potion of fries, when I tell you this is the most delicious fish and chips I’ve ever had you’d think I’m joking, the chilli sauce and special sauce it’s outer worldly, the fish is an amazing size and packed with flavour. The crispy yet soft batter is to die for, and the chilli’s are just the cherry on top! (Except your mouth would be burning), the only downside was the tiniest arm hair I found but other than that I don’t care it’s too good to care.

The service and staff were amazing and struck convo even when I was pissed off about the rain on my walk.
