The Ritz London

Absolutely superb sums up our experience of lunch in the Ritz restaurant. The hotel is decorated for Christmas and looks stunning-each table had its own Christmas table decoration and obviously the dining room looked delightful. Every member of staff we met was cheerful and welcoming-FOH training must be excellent. The hotel was busy-the afternoon tea is very popular and the restaurant filled up as lunchtime progressed. We were in early which was great-the staff welcomed us and introduced themselves to us in a really friendly way. Orlando and the lovely young lady looking after us were perfect and if you weren't sure about something they made you feel very relaxed about it all. The food was sublime-canapés served beautifully. My scallop starter was gorgeous and the Suffolk lamb main course was one of the best lamb dishes I have experienced. You also get freshly baked sour dough bread with organic French butter and we had a second serving of this-in case you want to have all the lovely juices which discreetly told you-it's ok to wipe the plate!! Pudding was also delicious as were the unexpected petit fours. Orlando kindly told us the table was ours for as long as we wished which on a freezing cold day was lovely. The staff were professional, attentive, and went out of their way to make us feel celebrated. The afternoon tea itself was exceptional. There was a wide selection of teas, perfectly made sandwiches, and delicate pastries that practically melted in the mouth. The warm scones were just the right size — filling but not overwhelming — and the cake trolley offered a tempting array of treats, including light ginger and classic Victoria sponge cakes. Every detail was thoughtfully prepared, making the occasion feel truly memorable. The combination of stunning presentation, high-quality food, and impeccable service created an experience we will always treasure. A heartfelt thank you for making the day so special!
