Robata definitely deserves more recognition as the food is crazy good! To start with we ordered the Crispy Squid and a few skewers, including the Lamb Breast, Corn on the Cob and Chicken Skewer. All the skewers were delicious, especially the Lamb as it was mouth-wateringly juicy 😛 You can really taste the difference with the robata style of cooking the meats. The Crispy Squid was also really good- the batter was insanely crunchy and had a buttermilk taste. One of the best items was the Spicy Tuna Maki topped with caviar; a pocket of bursting flavours- definitely up there with Sushi Samba, if not tastier!

We were also told that they do halal Wagyu Beef Steak off the menu, so we decided to try it out. We love wagyu beef as the texture of the meat is finer and there’s greater marbling, which makes it more succulent and flavoursome than other types of steaks 🤤 We were definitely not dissappointed as the steak was unbelievably tender and full of flavour! 
On our next visit here, we hope to try more of the Sushi and Bao Buns which looked amazing 😍

P.S. despite the meats being halal, some are cooked with alcohol or have sauces containing alcohol- be sure to check with the waiters before ordering.

EDIT P.s our bad guys, apparently the skewers are cooked on the same grill as the pork. A member of staff went through each item on the menu informing us of whether it is halal or not but we didn’t think to ask about where each item was cooked!

One of my best places of 2019 at the Japanese restaurant @robata.soho with some beautiful Japanese dishes.⁣⁣⁣

⁣The beef tataki was brilliant as was the sushi I had. I got 2 types of bao buns, fried chicken (1st) and soft shell crab. Both were just epic. ⁣⁣⁣

The star of the show was the Hay Flamed Beef Fillet. At £25 for only 200g of meat, its a pricey dish, but you get your own little Robata at your table to cook your meat and the accompanied sides that included chimichurri was just delicious. ⁣⁣⁣
Please note. The beef and chicken are halal. However, items from the Robata Skewers section are cooked on the same grill as pork. There for there is confirmed cross contamination. So I didn't order from this part of the menu, coz I don't want any chance of peppa pig juice on my chicken. ⁣

ROBATA

Decent restaurant for Robata (Japanese bbq) in London! The skewers were well marinated and and cooked well. They had a good range of selections on the menu including sushi.

The service was ok, friendly staff and the venue isn’t that big so the seats weren’t as spacious and has a casual vibe.

I do recommend this place if you fancy some nice Robata!

Such a welcoming atmosphere! The staff were all very nice and friendly especially Ronan, who took the time to chat with us and even surprised us with a complimentary dessert for our first-year anniversary. The food was excellent, with a wide range of options to choose from, and everything came out quickly and at just the right time. Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience and received great service. Highly recommend!

Lovely date night out, had tuna sashimi and it was great. The sea bass ceviche was our favourite. Had a sake float each, highly recommend. The sticks are okay but I would recommend sticking to the premium sashimi and sushi. Reasonably priced, in the heart of Soho and great service.

The best japanese tasting menu I have ever had. You just appreciate the freshness of ingredients. The chargrilled beef melts in you mouth and everything so beautifully presented. A lovely memory to celebrate my daughter’s 30th birthday.

Not all of our meat dishes are Halal due to the marinade. However, our chicken and beef fillet is Halal. If you do want to order dishes please let us know preferably in a day in advance so we can change the recipe to cater to your requirements.
