The Worst Dining Experience of My Life

The biggest mistake of my life was bringing my family here for a buffet dinner. We travelled all the way from London to Manchester and decided to eat at Al Maidah, and it turned out to be a complete disaster. I have never eaten such dirty and low-quality food in my entire life.

The starters were extremely dirty, the curries and salads looked unhygienic, and the chicken biryani and pulao were filled with so much unnecessary spice that they were completely inedible. The entire meal wasn’t even worth zero stars.

It is clear that the owner is only focused on making money. If even a little attention was given to quality, hygiene, or customer service, maybe customers could enjoy a proper halal meal. But here, everything tasted stale, low-quality, and carelessly prepared.

The desserts were overloaded with sugar, with absolutely no taste—just sweetness and nothing else. After eating here, I genuinely felt sick.

To make things even worse, the service was zero class. No professionalism, no care, and no respect for customers.

I am sharing this as a genuine warning:
Please do NOT waste your time, money, or health by bringing your family or children to this place. Spend your quality time somewhere better—this restaurant is not worth it.

Food tasted fine there wasnt too much variety compared to Zauqs and Shahi Masala in Birmingham.

Be aware its £23.95 and drinks are not free which I think is a big downside.  Most places give unlimited refills which they should.aslo do.

Parking was ok we parked on Harris street which was close by.

Food was amazing, loved the chicken tikka and the lam seekh kebab, and the nihilism. The paratha was great too! Roma was so helpful and helped me to pick out the food without hesitation and even insisted I got dessert at the end! Totally recommend this place!!

Visited with family and enjoyed the buffet with Al Maidah. Staff has been helping and cooperative. Menu was good. Lamb chaps were good and spicy but suggestive of little more cooking as I being senior (being70 now) found it a bit harder bite. Starter & Salad bar was nice arranged with a number of items. Sweets n ice-cream counter was also loaded with a variety of nice items. Environment was cozy and comfortable. No congestion and/or noisy.

Rude staff! We were made to pay before we even sat down, which should have been the first red flag. After that, it was just one disappointment after another.

The restaurant was a complete mess,  tables still dirty from previous customers, not a single effort made to clear or clean anything. It was advertised as an all-you-can-eat buffet, but most of the food trays were nearly empty, and hardly anything was being refilled. When we asked if more food was coming, we were met with attitude and eye rolls from the staff.

The servers were not only unhelpful but downright rude and argumentative. They acted like they were doing us a favour just by speaking to us. And the cherry on top? They only let us have one portion of lamb chops — at an all-you-can-eat buffet. Make that make sense.

For a place that makes you pay upfront, you’d expect at least the bare minimum of service and food. Instead, it was chaos, attitude, and a half-empty buffet.
The chicken was cold, the salad was slimey and the doughnuts were raw
Never going back and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
