Black Lotus Thai restaurant

Had dinner at Black Lotus – honestly 5 stars across the board. The food was full of flavour – we had the mixed platter, spicy prawn rice, red chicken curry, and egg fried rice, and every dish hit the mark. Staff were lovely, really attentive without being over the top. The atmosphere was calm and welcoming, perfect for a relaxing meal.

Everything is halal and there is a prayer room at the back which was a really thoughtful touch. Will definitely be back again, insha’Allah – highly recommended!

Such a lovely place. Their food is so delicious. One of a kind I must say. Pretty authentic taste and super nice guest service. Music wasn't great but I will suggest if you can, put instrumental music or some chilled English playlist please. I understand your guests or may be owners are from South Asian countries and they like Hindi songs, but Hindi, English mixed music wasn't a great idea for a Thai restaurants playlist. Sorry if I sound wrong or biased! It was just a personal opinion. Overall, I like their ambience and decorum. I recommend this place. Must worth visiting again. Thanks for serving us.

Went there last night, we tried a lot of dishes and everything was fantastic! The fish cakes were crispy and flavorful, the Penang curry rich and aromatic, pad Thai was the best noodle I’ve had in a while and the mango sticky rice was the perfect sweet finish. The star of the night was the papaya salad — fresh, spicy, and truly authentic. Great service and a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Salmon Chuchi - 7/10 - this was a good portion, the sauce was very nice. The fish was very nice, although the oil fried tempura plus the rich coconut milk just made it too heavy to eat whole portion. Don't do the tempura I suggest. It's not what it said on the menu.

Yam Nua 8/10 - can't go wrong with this dish, and nicely presented, spices worked well.

Decor 9/10, I really liked the the feel of the place, the wall is very nice.

Pear & Lychee Daquiri - 10/10 don't ever give a 10 but this is brilliant.

The service - waiters were attentative and friendly, polite.

Black Lotus in Ilford is one of my absolute favourites! I’ve eaten in a couple of times and also ordered many times, and the food has never disappointed. My go-to is the Phad Bai Kraprow with rice, which is always full of flavour. I’ve also tried the chicken Pad Thai, a few of their curries, and some of the starters – everything has been consistently delicious.
The restaurant has a modern, stylish interior and the staff are always warm and friendly, which makes the whole experience even better. I’d highly recommend Black Lotus to anyone looking for amazing Thai food!
