We discovered Afrikana as its on our local takeout list. The food is always always top notch. So we decided to celebrate a birthday at Afrikana, we had to book by email as we were a larger party (7 people). We then turned up early to boot. But everyone was welcoming and our table was ready for us immediately. We ordered the ‘meat again’ as a shared plate, the ‘just kebabin’ with lamb and ‘we goat your back’ which is a family favourite and so delicious. We also ordered the loaded mac n cheese for the pasta freak in the group (who was also the birthday person). And extra plantain because I love plantain, and hummus which was served with the softest most delicious pita. We also had pretty much one of every mocktail, they were all delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant was not too loud, so we could hear eachother and talk comfortably, the food was fresh and tasty. We ate till we almost popped. Shout out for the desserts, we had one of each of those too. They were all a taste sensation. Special thanks to the amazing wait staff, who were friendly and welcoming and couldn’t do enough, even tho we turned up early with a massive party (really sorry about that). The food was amazing atmosphere was lovely, and all at a very reasonable price. If you’re celebrating or want to eat out somewhere that makes delicious food this is the place for you. Special mention for the Afrikana fries, if you like slightly hot piquant sauce this ones for you

Thanks Semih for the great and personable service. Overall great quality food! My only recommendation is for the chicken to have been cooked better as it was quite hard and not as nice or wholesome as the chicken we had at the stepney Afrikana.

Exceptional service. Our hostess Fatima was very kind, friendly and helpful. She offered choices, recommended sides and other things. We ordered We meat again platters with Afrikaana sauce and few drinks. We were served deep fried crispy okra with mango chutney as appetizer. Food took some time to come. The chicken was moist and very flavorful. So were lamp chops, prawns and meat. The drinks were chilled and yummy. The manager on duty/owner was also very kind. All in all great experience and great Halal spot in Ilford, London. Keep up the good work!!!

The service here is phenomenal (particularly Fatima!) straight onto a table, food within 10 mins. The drinks were nice, sweet (non alcoholic) but not sickly. Be aware - food is spicy, but in a good way. Will come again for the fried chicken.

Afrikana has been on my list for a while and I am glad I have finally been able to visit. I had the Knockout Box which is chicken breast served over jollof rice and topped with spring onions. The Afrikana sauce was the perfect combination of sweet and spicy and I would highly recommend. My sister had the We Goat Your Back which is a slow cooked Mutton curry served with rice with beans and plantain. She said the lamb was extremely tender and also enjoyed her meal. I was a bit skeptical whether Afrikana is another of the social media hype, but this was not the case. The food was delicious and I would definitely return to try their other dishes.
