Went here in May 2024 with my boyfriend for our anniversary and wow. It was absolutely amazing. The interior was so cool, staff were extremely friendly and helped with recommending things for us, and the food and drinks were UNREAL. My favorite was the dragon roll, it was the best I’ve ever had in my life and I can’t stop thinking about it. Every single food and drink we ordered just blew me away and I can’t wait to come back here. Staff, food, vibes 100/10

I was pleasantly surprised by Chotto Matte Marylebone! Initially, I thought it might just be an Instagram-worthy spot, but it exceeded my expectations. The interior is modern and stylish, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive.

While the prices are on the higher side (bento box £30, lunch set £40, and sharing menus starting at £65), we opted for Sharing Menu 1 at £65, which included 10 beautifully presented dishes. The variety of sides, starters, and mains was impressive, and every dish was absolutely delicious. Despite the restaurant’s fancy vibe, the portions were surprisingly generous—we were so full we couldn’t finish everything! Even dessert came with two large scoops of black sesame ice cream per person.

I highly recommend Chotto Matte for a date or business lunch. The quality and experience feel on par with a five-star hotel restaurant.

Best Nikkei in London! Chotto Matte Marylebone was just fantastic from start to finish! The fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine is to die for! The decor was luxurious and the seats were so comfortable, I melted as soon as I sat down for lunch. The team was friendly and really cheerful from arrival to departure. We tried so many dishes, but for me the standouts were the Yellowtail "Nikkei Sashimi," Lychee Ceviche, and Dragon Roll—so fresh and full of flavor. I didn’t have a drink, but the cocktails looked really creative and tasty too; I’ll definitely have to come back for dinner to try them out! Our servers were friendly and really knew their stuff, explaining each dish, the tasting notes, and the ingredients. I’m definitely coming back ASAP.

The lighting is dim yet inviting, casting a warm glow over lava stone and Yakisugi wood elements, creating a space that is both intimate and exhilarating.

The culinary offerings are an exquisite marriage of Japanese precision and Peruvian zest. Allow me to highlight some of the standouts that graced our palate during this delightful soiree. The Yellowtail Nikkei Sashimi is a pristine example of how the restaurant harmonizes delicate fish with bold flavors, a perfect prelude to the Sea Bass Ceviche, which dazzles with its fresh, vibrant citrus notes. The Dragon Roll and Sato Maki showcase the chef’s artistry in sushi, while the Spicy Tuna Hako Roll brings a delightful kick with each bite. The Spicy Tuna Crispy Sushi offers a satisfying crunch paired with a spicy tuna topping that is simply irresistible.

While the Spicy Chicken Karaage and Tentaculos de Pulpo y Gambas were competently executed, they did not quite reach the same culinary heights as the other dishes and might not be our choice on a subsequent visit. However, these minor notes do little to detract from the overall excellence of the dining experience.

If all you want is a beer - they have their own English Pale Ale that perfectly complements all the food.

all the food was good, but the steak was very basic compared to the other delicious dishes. the miso chicken was amazing, and order the black cod if you can. the dragon roll was also very good, but the rice was slightly overcooked.

Our chicken, beef and lamb are all halal. However, please note our Japanese wagyu dishes are not halal.
