Assenheims 56 Smithfield

I come to Assenheims 56 every visit to London. The chicken is incredibly flavorful and the green sauce is unlike any other. Unfortunately, they got rid of their old veggies and swapped them out with grilled fajita veggies (mostly just cabbage). This led me to my 4-star! The salad is OK, so I opt for this with potatoes. Even then, the chicken is still worth a visit. It can get busy and the servers aren’t as friendly as I’m accustomed to, but otherwise, I always enjoy my visit.

Discovered this great restaurant when I was near St Paul's. They have a few locations around the city. Absolutely delicious food and value for money. I had the beef patacones which is essentially tender pulled beef sandwiched between two massive crispy plantain "flat breads" but is gluten free. While I didn't have room for dessert, they do offer dessert along with 2 vegan sweet options. Lots of savory vegan options as well. Staff was incredibly friendly, helpful and attentive.

Depends what you want. The portions are enormous it’s and value is great. The actual quality of the food is sub par. The chicken is ok but even though marinated, there isn’t a particularly special taste to it. The green sauce has no discernible flavour at all. So you need chilli to give it a kick. The rice is plentiful but looks more tasty than it actually tastes. The grilled vegetables weren’t grilled at all, they were boiled and over done, far too soft. So the meal was very bland but there was a lot of it so I left feeling full for little over a tenner.
