Kaya Malaysian Restaurant

Quite authentic Malaysian cuisine which can be a difficult box to tick in Manchester! But the rating is damaged by the portion sizes and prices which just didn't seem to match up.

I wanted to back this one but on a cost basis I would have to recommend alternatives. But if you're new to Malaysian food it may spark something for you.

Very much enjoyed the food, fast friendly service. We ordered the chicken and rice and thought the ginger sauce could be a bit more generous. Enjoyed the drinks, toast and roti, good authentic Malaysian food.

This is a great place for some lip smacking authentic Malay food. We tried the Nasi Goreng and Mee Goreng, and they were delicious.

The ambience is very basic , so I’ve removed a star for it. They badly need to work on this. Feels like you are eating in a store room. But I’ll still go here another time for their authentic flavours :)

A Malaysian-recommended restaurant serving Malaysian cuisine, tucked away in a rather unassuming semi-basement spot in Chinatown. The food is fairly average, slightly on the salty side, but offers excellent value for money. Service is standard. Overall, it’s a decent place to fill your stomach with reasonably good flavors.

The positive reviews are slightly misleading. I had mee goreng and there is nothing positive about this dish unfortunately; noodles were overcooked to the limits and chopped, also there was no flavour whatsoever (described as sweet and tangy), just bland, overcooked, poor quality noodles with almost no chicken and some fraction of vegetables. I had instant noodles which had more flavour than this dish, very disappointing as malysian cuisine is rich in taste and very fragrant. My colleagues had different dish, which was even worse unfortunately.

Will not come back there and will not recommend to anyone. Service was okay, but the food ruined the experience.
