Indian Affair

An unassuming restaurant amongst the Barlow moor road parade with some strong competition, yet still stands out.

A relaxing energy as you walk in. We visited on a Monday night so it was quiet, and music was playing at a suitable level to allow full conversation. There was a fragrant smell which caught my attention (clean and flowery as opposed to kitchen and food smells).

The highlight for us was the food. Every dish was delicious, we had three starters full of flavour, two incredibly rich curries with naan as a side and popadoms to start.

Service was very good. I believe it was Mahir who served us. He was exceptionally polite, gentle and friendly. The food came in perfect timing right as our appetites reached a climax. There is an optional service charge automatically added to your bill at the end.

The restaurant is delicately decorated in a contemporary style. The bathroom was very nicely decorated, with a slight rustic feel, and was clearly well looked after by the staff.

We did feel like the food was expensive, at just under £40 a head for 1.5 starters, curry and naan (+optional service charge). We went on a whim so perhaps were looking for something less pricey (and exciting), so I may replace the fifth star on further reflection.

Overall, fantastic restaurant with delicious, rich food and a lovely inviting and unhurried ambience.

A lovely Indian. It has a smaller menu, but everything we tried was delicious. The small plates were the highlight, we shared 3 between 4 of us and both chaat dishes were my personal favourites. The staff were very friendly and genuinely engaged with us, chatting about our meal and evening. We visited during the January 25% off offer but would happily return at full price. Highly recommend booking in advance!

The food was very tasty and it came well presented. My friends have thought the portions are quite small. I was disappointed when I asked staff if drinks come in the can/glass or  is it draft, they stated it is a can. We have ordered coke zero and it came pre filled in the glass with loads of ice, most of it was ice rather than drink. I have really enjoyed the food and the flavours as they differ from your normal Indian food. I believe customer service was good and staff were friendly, however disappointed that they put service charge to your bill like we are in USA.  We have spent £80 for all that is on the photos.

We recently dined at this restaurant. The overall experience was decent, and the food tasted good. However, we were quite disappointed with the portion size of the starter—it was unusually small, especially considering the high price point.

While the main courses were reasonably portioned, the value for money in the starter was lacking. We shared our honest feedback with the staff, mentioning that, having visited many Indian restaurants, we found this to be the smallest portion we've encountered.

In response, a staff member stated, somewhat dismissively, that they are not a "small restaurant" but a "lavish one," which is why the pricing is higher. We found this reply both surprising and disappointing.

Additionally, the ambience didn't quite meet expectations. We've been to several renowned Indian restaurants in Manchester and haven't come across prices this high relative to the experience offered.

Indian Affair is hands down my favourite spot for Indian food in Chorlton - I come here regularly and always leave full & happy.

The staff are always so friendly and helpful, making the experience even better.

My go-to order is Butter Chicken with their garlic naan and perfectly cooked pilau rice. The Lamb Nihari is another favourite - rich, tender and a great portion size! And if you love street food-style starters, the Samosa Chaat is a must-try.

On top of the amazing food, the prices are really reasonable for the quality you get. Whether you’re dining in or getting a takeaway, you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend checking this place out!
