Fantastic South East Asian dining experience in Gants Hill!

Wah Bay is a real hidden gem in the heart of Gants Hill. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere and a beautifully designed interior — stylish, modern, and thoughtfully put together. It’s the perfect mix of comfort and class, making it just as suitable for a casual meal as it is for a special evening out.

The menu offers a great variety of South East Asian dishes, and everything we tried was packed with flavour and cooked to perfection. You can really taste the freshness of the ingredients and the balance of spices — authentic yet approachable for all palates.

The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The team clearly takes pride in what they do, and it shows in both the food and the overall experience.

Pricing is very reasonable for the quality you get. Portions are generous, and the presentation is excellent — great value for money overall.

If you’re looking for a restaurant in Gants Hill that offers delicious South East Asian cuisine in a lovely setting, Wah Bay is absolutely worth a visit. Highly recommended!

We booked a private dining area on the lower ground floor for an intimate graduation celebration and the service and food was outstanding! We ordered a few tawa grills which was absolutely delicious 10/10 and some biriyanis. The grills were cooked to perfection, tender and flavourful and the lamb chops was the best. With all honesty, the food was the best Pakistani food we’ve had at a restaurant.  The private dining area is beautiful itself and perfect for private functions. All the staff including manager Sarwar and the waitresses provided the best service. Thank you for a memorable evening.

I came here as a backup , as smoke and pepper ( the restaurant opposite) had a long wait.

Everything was average. Didn’t enjoy the tikka or the karahi.

Prices were on the expensive side (4.95 for portion of rice).

I would not come back.

Wah Bey in Ilford is a real treat! From the moment I walked in, the service was top-notch – attentive and friendly. But the real stars of the show were the dishes. The butter chicken was rich and creamy, the lamb chops were perfectly grilled and succulent, and the lamb shank was fall-off-the-bone tender and packed with flavour. Every dish was incredibly tasty. I'd highly recommend Wah Bey to anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying meal in Ilford.

Khalid helped me so much with my Uber Eats order and all the amendments I needed. His customer service was absolutely excellent — very patient, friendly, and professional throughout. He really went above and beyond to make sure everything was sorted perfectly. Such a lovely person, and I’ve been here multiple times — the service is always great.
