CHA-OLOGYお茶とお菓子 (RESERVATION ONLY)

I have been following Cha-ology since they first opened and finally made it today! We had the Aki menu and it was amazing. The love and care put into the sweets and tea by the farmers, craftspeople and of course the lovely staff in the tea house is evident.

The space is beautiful and all of the teaware handmade in Japan by different artists. I was in awe of everything!

I want to comment briefly on some of the negative reviews. We attended the silent tea time, and I was a little nervous to not offend or get things wrong. Fortunately we were made so welcome and the whole experience was so relaxing. For me, it was clear that the rules are in place to make sure that the tea is the focus of the experience.

I have never had an experience quite like the one I had here. Everything was very special from start to finish.

Visited with a friend who is a regular and wasn't completely sure what to expect but knew I was in for a interesting journey. We had the winter tea course which had a variety of different teas (both hot and cold) and various delightful wagashi.

I can now see why my friend loves this place so much and I'm already looking forward to my next visit. I recommend the seasonal tea courses for the full experience but I don't think you can go wrong with whatever you select.

If you are after a peaceful atmosphere where you enjoy expertly prepared Japanese tea for nearly 2 hours, this is your place.

I have only ordered online and sadly not had the opportunity to visit the physical store - however their online service is impeccable. With matcha in demand it's understandable delays may happen - and this is absolutely communicated to the buyer if this does happen. When the tea arrives it's carefully boxed as they clearly understand the importance of the product arriving in good condition. The notes are always very welcome and I'm happy to give repeat custom to ensure I'm not only getting high quality product, but also supporting a small business!

This experience was amazing!! I booked this as a surprise for my boyfriends birthday and he was so happy. We booked the casual tea time. The staff are lovely and talk through all teas and snacks in such detail, it’s amazing how they remember so much and are so knowledgable. The atmosphere is very calming  and I have never experienced tea quite like it. We left feeling very calm and chilled out and wanting to experience it again! We also bought some chocolate. If you’re thinking of going then you should!! It’s well worth the money and a one-of-a-kind experience. Thank you Cha-ology!!

What a truly fantastic experience!
We went to a quiet tea time experience and it was absolutely fantastic in every way, how often do you get time to relax in this busy world?

From the second we arrived into the tea room we were treated with a lot of courtesy, kindness and respect, and the atmosphere of the tea room was really calm and welcoming.

Before we sat down, we were guided through the menu choices in great detail about the tea, and selected what we fancied if you weren't familiar with any of the teas or options you needn't worry as it was all explained . We had also mentioned on booking we were vegan and were catered for in every way and didn't feel like a bother whatsoever, the staff are fantastic!

We got to choose specific tea ware for our Matcha and were shown to our designated table. The decor was such a brilliant, minimalist touch which instantly added to the meditative feel of the whole experience.

Our teas and paired sweets came out, and again our hosts described in great detail the flavours and origins of the ingredients. All were delicious, and we experienced flavours and quality ingredients that we normally would never get a chance to try.

Once we had finished, our hosts came over and talked about each artist behind the teaware that we chose, explaining about the origins and the type/style of pottery and brought other examples over of their work, really great touch which added a lot to the experience.

We left feeling well and truly spoilt and relaxed, having had a completely different, experience that took you into a little piece of tranquility in the heart of the city centre.

Please don't for a second read the bad reviews, the guys here have something truly special in the heart of Manchester, I'm that impressed we've actually booked to go again.
