I have been following Cha-ology since they first opened and finally made it today! We had the Aki menu and it was amazing. The love and care put into the sweets and tea by the farmers, craftspeople and of course the lovely staff in the tea house is evident. The space is beautiful and all of the teaware handmade in Japan by different artists. I was in awe of everything! I want to comment briefly on some of the negative reviews. We attended the silent tea time, and I was a little nervous to not offend or get things wrong. Fortunately we were made so welcome and the whole experience was so relaxing. For me, it was clear that the rules are in place to make sure that the tea is the focus of the experience. Thank you so much for an incredible experience and for the beautiful keepsake menu and momiji leaves.

I have never had an experience quite like the one I had here. Everything was very special from start to finish. Visited with a friend who is a regular and wasn't completely sure what to expect but knew I was in for a interesting journey. We had the winter tea course which had a variety of different teas (both hot and cold) and various delightful wagashi. I can now see why my friend loves this place so much and I'm already looking forward to my next visit. I recommend the seasonal tea courses for the full experience but I don't think you can go wrong with whatever you select. If you are after a peaceful atmosphere where you enjoy expertly prepared Japanese tea for nearly 2 hours, this is your place.

I have only ordered online and sadly not had the opportunity to visit the physical store - however their online service is impeccable. With matcha in demand it's understandable delays may happen - and this is absolutely communicated to the buyer if this does happen. When the tea arrives it's carefully boxed as they clearly understand the importance of the product arriving in good condition. The notes are always very welcome and I'm happy to give repeat custom to ensure I'm not only getting high quality product, but also supporting a small business!

This experience was amazing!! I booked this as a surprise for my boyfriends birthday and he was so happy. We booked the casual tea time. The staff are lovely and talk through all teas and snacks in such detail, it’s amazing how they remember so much and are so knowledgable. The atmosphere is very calming and I have never experienced tea quite like it. We left feeling very calm and chilled out and wanting to experience it again! We also bought some chocolate. If you’re thinking of going then you should!! It’s well worth the money and a one-of-a-kind experience. Thank you Cha-ology!!

Just ‘wow’. What an amazing experience from the moment you walk in; it’s hard to imagine somewhere so peaceful in the city centre. Our booking was their ‘quiet’ tea service. The servers took our coats and throughly explained all the options available before seating us at one of the tables. I can’t believe how good the tea was! I enjoy a lot of teas of different varieties at home, but this stuff blew us both away. Some teas like the hojicha had an almost tropical flavour, other teas were savoury in a way I didn’t know tea could be. The snacks/food were also excellent, and surprisingly filling! Definitely recommend the sakura mochi! Our service lasted around 2 hours. The server’s timing was excellent even though my wife and I were having two different menu options. Each tea/dish came with a card with some information and a QR link to further reading. Given the small maximum capacity of the establishment, it felt very intimate and personal. Given all of this, I’d say you definitely get your money’s worth. I couldn’t leave this review without commenting on some of the negative ones I see here; reading some of them initially left us feeling a little nervous about booking. However, our experience could not have been better, the staff were amazingly friendly and clearly very very passionate about the tea and food they serve. We had no issues taking photos of our food and drinks (following their guidance on photos and phone usage). If you’re feeling nervous about booking like we were, I’d honestly not worry and just book it. Respect their requests (which they politely remind you of upon booking and upon entry) and just enjoy the vibe. P.S. When we booked online by their site was down, but they responded to our email literally within minutes to help us book.
