Apple Butter Cafe

The dishes we tried were all hits - Shakshuka was flavorful and perfectly cooked, Egg Florentine was a delightful twist, Crème Brûlée French Toast was a sweet indulgence, and the pancake with ginger was a lovely surprise. The warm ambience and welcoming staff made the experience even better. A great spot for a cozy breakfast or brunch in London.  Prepare to queue.

A great breakfast spot in central London. We walked in and waited around 30 to 40 minutes, but it was worth it.

The food was really good. I had the falafel on brioche bread and my partner had the egg bagel. Both were delicious, but the real highlights were the lemonade and the coffee, absolutely perfect. We also shared a croissant, which was fine but nothing special.

Overall, the breakfast was great, the service was lovely, and the setting was magnificent.

Well, it’s been a while since I wrote a review — especially a bad one — but I feel I have to take the initiative and protect my fellow foodies.

After waiting 90 minutes in a line full of Gulf visitors (my people!), I should have taken the hint. Everyone was clearly working through the same TikTok “must-try” list. I don’t mind waiting — I once waited 120 minutes for gyoza in Kyoto and it was absolutely worth it.
This, however, was not.

The food was sub-par across the board.
•	The “special pancake” (they push it aggressively since it’s the only weekly flavor) is a failed imitation of the fluffy Japanese pancake. Instead of airy and cloud-like, it was dense, heavy, and borderline doughy.
•	The “melted cheese sandwich” arrived unmelted, soggy, and without the slightest hint of crispiness.
•	The halloumi and hash browns tasted like straight-from-the-freezer products.
•	The falafel… no comments.

Overall: Overhyped. Underwhelming. Not worth the wait. TikTok made it famous, not the quality.

I wouldn’t recommend setting high expectations for trendy London food spots. My experience at Apple Butter Cafe was underwhelming. The smell inside the restaurant was unpleasant and made the space feel a bit suffocating. The food was average and didn’t justify the hype or popularity. On the positive side, the staff were polite, professional, and welcoming. We visited early, so it wasn’t crowded, but the prices were relatively high compared to similar breakfast cafés in London.

Let me put it right off the bat, it lives up to the hype. A popular cafe went viral, with people lining up for hours for simple food among the many alternatives in the area. At the end of the day, the namesake pancake is a calorie-dense bomb, I assume we all refrained from it recently, yet having it for the sake of “I was there”. Cool, the system is functioning properly. I was there, but scheduled it for a Monday morning at least to skip the wait, and it worked well. I was directed to the table right away. I will put anything special for the food bec for me the social media frenzi has stolen the main role. Good job. One of the “done and dusted” experiences for me.

Yum Bun - Seven Dials Market

Highly recommend checking out Yum Bun, especially try the pork belly bun. It has tender, juicy pork with a sweet and savory hoisin sauce, all topped with fresh cucumber and spring onions for a satisfying crunch. Vegetarian options are also available like the tofu bun and is equally delicious. Finally, the atmosphere at Seven Dials adds to the pleasant experience.

Creamy and salty with bits of tasty fermented black beans.
Seaweed fries were just McDonald quality tossed in seaweed powder.
Obviously I didn't get as much seaweed sprinkled as those that were invited to post on social media where the fries were green with envy.

If you are walking around Covent Garden and Neal’s Yard, you must definitely stop at the Seven Dials Market to taste the amazing buns at Yum Bun!

We had the chance to try the tofu and the aubergine ones, together with the vegetarian gyoza 🥟 and all were delicious 😋
An amazing contrast between the softness of the buns and the crunchy fill, for both the tofu and the aubergine dishes. The mayo sauce on the tofu bun and the spicy topping on the aubergine ones are a very pleasant addition that make each bite even more fun.
Appreciated the request from the waitress that wanted to check if we were either vegetarian or fully vegan.

Was really excited to try this but was a bit disappointed, unfortunately. The staff, service and atmosphere were all really great, however, unfortunately I did not personally enjoy the food. I was really excited to know that the chicken was halal and we ordered a hot chicken bao bun as well as the fried chicken but there was a weird smell to the chicken ( especially in the fried chicken dish ). The bao was a bit better with the bao bun being perfectly warm and soft, but the chicken itself was not that enjoyable:( The fried chicken dish was crispy but lacked in taste. The presentation of both dishes was great though.

Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing or maybe just got a bit unlucky on the day…

I recently visited Yum Bun and was truly impressed by the delicious food and vibrant atmosphere. The buns were fresh, flavorful, and the variety offered was fantastic! However, I noticed a significant number of potential customers, including myself, who would love to enjoy your offerings but were deterred due to the lack of halal options.
I believe that introducing halal options could attract a wider customer base and cater to the diverse community that Yum Bun serves. Many of us are eager to enjoy your amazing buns but find ourselves unable to do so because of dietary restrictions.
I hope you will consider adding halal options to your menu in the future so that everyone can experience the great taste of your food. Thank you for considering this suggestion!

North African dishes served in souk-like rooms

The decorative in the restaurant is nice. Food was served very slow even we were the only table for a Sat. lunch. We like the garlic aubergine starter but the Harira soup was a bit too salty.

For the main dishes, chicken Tagine with prune was too sweet; mixed grill came with very tough/dry meat, although the “gravy” sauce was nice, it’s not a memorable dish; and the grilled octopus wasn’t very good quality of seafood. In general, we were slightly disappointed…

We arrived very late, just as the restaurant was about to close, yet they still kindly agreed to welcome us, which was incredibly thoughtful. We were seated in a small, very typical room full of charm — it felt authentic and cozy. The staff were exceptionally kind and attentive, the service was excellent, and the food was truly delicious, with a strong sense of tradition in every dish. They even offered us tea at the end. If you’re visiting London, this place is an absolute must — charming, warm, and genuinely memorable.

Had an amazing meal, couldn’t fault the service and had really welcoming staff. The lamb tagine was cooked absolutely perfectly, also had beef tagine and prawn dish all cooked very well. Will definitely return if we can. Thank you for a lovely meal!

Homeslice is always a solid choice for a casual bite. The giant pizzas are delicious with great flavour combos. Service is quick and friendly, and it’s a fun place to grab food with friends. It can get busy and a bit loud at times, but the quality of the pizza makes it worth it. Definitely a favourite for an easy, tasty meal in SEven Dials.

Great spot for sharing or a quick slice on the go!
The pizzas are HUGE, thin-based, and delicious - perfect for sharing. We were three people and got one pizza, doing a half-and-half, which worked out great. The only downside is the limited seating. The place is quite small, with only a couple of two-person tables outside due to the narrow walkway. Still, totally worth it for the pizza!

Great pizza. Fairly limited menu but what they have is great. The pizzas are very thin, but they are very large - one between 2 of us was plenty. You can have 50/50 topping so great for sharing.

Nice and rustic inside. We had a booth, which was cosy, but a little cramped for 4 people. The benches were also a little uncomfortable.

Service was friendly and efficient, even though it was busy.

The pizza was ok, nothing that amazing like the reviews really, I think it’s over priced for £5+ for a very thin SLICE of pizza, I paid £11 for two slices and can’t say it was really worth that all, we had the margarita and it had hardly any cheese on, pretty much bread with tomato sauce.

The staff were nice and we managed to get a nice seat out the front which made it worth it, after walking around London for hours.

Our Wagyu and lamb are both halal, and of course our vegetarian pizzas.

Izakaya pub-style venue with a rock soundtrack, serving steamed buns with meat or seafood fillings

If you’re looking for a restaurant with relaxed vibes and mouth-watering food, Flesh and Buns is a definite shout.

For starters we ordered the Fried Squid (a must if it’s ever on the menu and we didn’t regret it 🤤), the Chicken Yakitori and the Korean Fried Chicken Wings. The sauce on the wings was spicy and scrumptious, and the Chicken Yakitori was flavoured deliciously. As a main, the Salmon Teriyaki initially seemed as if it wouldn’t be very filling but we sure were wrong! The flavoursome salmon steak was cooked perfectly, and served with pickled veg. I ordered the Grilled Aubergine, which was surprisingly good! 
The best thing about the place was the loud but friendly atmosphere, you could tell everyone was having a good time! 👏🏽 Quick note, the chicken is halal!

*only the chicken is halal* Found out that all the chicken served @fleshandbuns and buns is halal. So in went and checked it out. Pictured are the Korean fried chicken wings which where absolutely fantastic. Really sticky and messy but the heat and flavour made these the best things I had. The Korean wings were by far some of the best we’ve ever had. Succulent and falling off the bone.  The grilled broccoli is also a must, flavoursome with a slight crunch. For mains, the chicken boas were crisp and tender paired perfectly with the creamy sauce. The salmon was soft and really well cooked with a slightly salty teriyaki sauce and fresh cucumber and lemon.

This place is slightly on the pricier side but definitely worth it and we would highly recommend visiting !

Flesh & Buns Covent Garden

Overall dining experience was good. Just thought the food didn't worth that high price.

Seating
We were 3 and we were there a Monday night around 7.30pm. It wasn't packed at all but they allocated us to a table that would you would have to share seating with others (a big table that could seat around 8 to 10 people). It was a bit awkward given that there were many other tables available. I was guessing they might have a lot of people afterwards but it turned out wasn't. The seating would have been done better.

Food
We had a £40 (per person)tasting menu that they said would cover most of their popular dishes. Overall, I would pay  £30 at most for this tasting menu. £40 is overpriced I guess for their "trendiess" and "fashion Asian /japanese/ chinese" meal idea. The food was quite good and mostly were strong in flavour and with pleasant presentation. The tuna was intriguing as I found the sauce gave really unique taste. All the other food was normal from my view. The pork belly was quite well made meat,soft and crispy skin. The duck was too dry. I didn't like the  sauces that went together with both, didn't match from my point of view. Chicken wings were the Korean style one, strong flavour, mild spiciness. The desert was some fun gimmick as they gave you fire to grill the marshmallow yourself. The taste of the marshmallow however was special, lemon like taste. Their buns were ok. Hot and fresh, proper texture. But a lack of the sweetness that was supposed to be there for Asian white buns, which was a bit disappointing.  The juice were fresh and nicely made

Takeaway
We couldn't finish the food so we would like to pack them away. Sadly they had a policy / restriction that their premises weren't allowed to let people take food away. You could do that in your own way though.

Service
Waiters were quite attentive. The manager was helpful.

Oh my goodness. Second time here and the food, experience and service is just as we remembered - 10/10. The Korean Chicken Wings, Wagu Bao Buns and Basque Cheesecake is so unbelievable we go from non-stop talking to absolute silence. A very good sign! Our favourite restaurant and, tonight, Angela was a delight. Thank you!!

I visited this place for my birthday, and it was truly an amazing experience. It was my first time trying bao buns, and they were absolutely immaculate. We ordered the large set, which was more than enough for the three of us. The fish, pork, and beef fillings were all incredibly juicy and flavorful. Although it’s on the pricier side, it’s definitely worth it for the quality and overall experience.

Food was fantastic, and so were the drinks and atmosphere. We were with the three of us and shared a sashimi platter, sushi roll, the big B and added some fried chicken too - everything was sublime! The food came out quicky and staff was super attentive. Gopi especially took great care of our party, she was very attentive and welcoming. We were sat at a long table with others, super cool and authentic japanese izakaya experience.

Went for bottomless brunch on Saturday around 3pm, our server Angela was super attentive and kept the prosecco fliwing faster than we could drink.

All the courses were delicious and the bao fillings in particular were cooked to perfection crispy skin on the pork and the karage chicken. The pickles and dipping sauces served alongside just made those buns soo good.
